    How Did We Win?

Watching The Football League Show on BBC we only had one attack. Ipswich put on a constant barrage?:-

    re: How Did We Win?

I've not seen the football league show yet - but watching the match live on sky I didn't think they actually had that many efforts?
As I recall they had that early effort that was well saved and a few others (which must be expected as the home side really). They didn't even have a decent effort in the last few minutes by my reckoning.

The Sky commentary was laughable though, how many times was it said that we had lost 3/5 away and been beaten by Leeds and Middlesbrough? At no point was it said that the other two results were wins and the most recent away victory was a well accomplished pasting of Birmingham!

Don Goodman kept talking about the Leeds game, which was well over a month ago. Don we've played and beat them again since and got a fairly decent away record if not totally impressive.

It was as if we ripped up and piddled on the script but no one told the media!

We won by being clinical with the only real clear chance either side had. Both teams cancelled each other out with some good defending and Grant made good saves from what were only really half chances.

We did a job and kept them largely to shots from outside the area. The media don't really interest me with their bias, the bookies however have us as 2/1 favourites and as many have pointed out before rarely get it wrong.

Enjoyed yesterday especially given other results.

Almost 50/50 possession says a more even game than the media suggest.

But TBH who gives one what they say, 3 points in the bag.

I think the FL show coverage was disgraceful.

Not because it matters what other people think - we won, thats the end of it. But it is supposed to be a neutral show, when they show extended highlights the idea is to 1) show those highlights, and 2) give a fair impression of the game and the performances.

They failed on both counts. The highlights looked like we were battered for 89 minutes and nicked it with a hoofball goal. They didn't show any of the chances Derby created apart from the goal.

They misrepresented the match, so much so and such a degree that I could actually imaging whoever it was that edited it including our goal through gritted teeth.

The issue here is not about Derby. It means we can't trust any representation that the show puts about any team, performance or event.

    Shocking really.

Thats the media for you - of course its down to their obsession with goals or shots on goals, which is what highlights shows do, whereas a match is about all the moves, the blocks etc. We didn't have many chances that resulted in shots on goal, but their defence made some very good blocks and interceptions and a couple of crucial fouls as well.

Yes, I'm so glad I stayed up after MoTD to watch the highlights of our match. I quite fancied another look at Hendrick shot inside the box that had the keeper beat but a defender got a leg out, Martin's header that went just over, and Hughes' clever little flick when surrounded by 4 players.

Still, I should feel lucky that we didn't get thrashed after such a comprehensive battering by Ipswich, who's only clear chance came in the 1st 5 mins. All those long balls and long range efforts really had us under the cosh for 96 minutes, I can't really remember us having the ball at all.

Then again, our away form is terrible, we've lost 3 matches away from home, and were so poor at Leeds.

Couldn't believe the coverage, from that we we were not in the game...on the plus side at least Claridge said it wasn't a penalty
