Yes as only Thorne and Eustace can play that roll efficiently. But I think they will make do until Thorne and Eustace are back from injury!Originally Posted by nickyd63

We should be looking to bring in another Central Defensive Midfielder after all Thorne could be a month away and Eustace could be out 4 or 5 weeks or can Warnock play there.
This needs sorting and Quick as this has been a problem position virtually all season.
Thoughts?![]()

We may need to drop Hendrick back and go 4231 in some games Omar is too isolated on occasions. I don't know why we didn't do this after 60 mins yesterday when it was obvious to everyone that they were running midfield.
Hendrick can't play in that position, neither can Hughes.
I just can't see Thorne being fit enough to play within the next 4 to 5 weeks, I'd have thought another DM on loan was needed.
As I said on other thread, the problem was less about the performance of the defensive midfielder, it was the 2 attacking ones in 2nd half.
Both Brys and Jeff had serious off days, and left too much space between themselves and Omar/defence. Its ok when one of them is running away from the ball into space, but when both are doing it and not then able to get back and recover when we have lost the ball...there lies the problem. Its why Will is so important...much of his running is into the space towards the ball, not away from it and asking for a hollywood pass. We need to get Jeff and Brys back doing this. Something I am sure Shteeve and coaches will see, and will rectify!
Cannot wait for Thorne to be back. What will be interesting then is if Omar gets used as back up for Will, I think he could play that role too where he comes to receive the ball and turns and plays
I thought on Saturday, Omar did what was asked of him, winning his battles well.
the problem is it's human nature to want a scapegoat. some people have decided that omar should be it.
I've been critical of him in the past but I'd like to think I'm fair with it. he was not the reason for us losing on Saturday.
about the only player that seems to have escaped any kind of blame is lee grant, who should have saved both goals!
there are many reasons we lost on Saturday but it wasn't down to any one player and certainly not omar.
back to the OP. should be get someone else in? no I don't think so. we've got thorne as first choice, seemingly Eustace as 2nd choice and omar as 3rd choice.
thorne's coming back to fitness in a few weeks. surely 3rd choice is exactly what it means - backup for backup. having 3 very different players for one position is a luxury that many championship sides could only dream of.
clearly I don't think omar is right for the role but for a couple of weeks give him another chance.
I suspect '4 weeks' is managing our expectations. i'll be
If Eustace has had a cartiledge op he will be out for 4 to 6 weeks at least
I am more worried about Hughes being sidelined for long. Even with Thorne back, we need Will infront of him with either Brys or Jeff alongside!
I think we need to loan someone in for the month but hope its not Chalobah or Rohann Ince surely there are others out there.
