They're one of the favourites to win and he features prominently for them. He'll be shattered when he gets back! Fingers crossed Fonte and Gardos go unscathed.
..as 3 wins on the spin sees Japan top their group and progress to the quarter finals of the Asian Cup.
If they get past UAE this Friday, they'll meet with China or Australia on 27th January, with the final being played on 31st.
Whatever happens, just hope he returns uninjured..

I have mixed feelings on this one. We could certainly do with him returning, keeping in mind the current paucity of our cover at centre half.Originally Posted by PapaLazarou
But good luck to him. Well done Yoshida he is doing well. Also I think he signed a contract extension before leaving for overseas. Cynics might say he took what he could get, but where else will you find cover of that quality prepared to sit on the bench and wait for the occasional appearance.
Being unselfish for a moment, it would be great for Yoshida (& Japan !) to go on and win the tournament - a big deal and a real feather in his cap. Might also help to expand awareness & interest in Saints in that part of the world - no harm in that.
Just don't want him to pick up a knock which would rule him out on his return.
When you add it up. If a player gets to the final. Allowing for travel before, the tournament and recovery afterwards it could around 8 weeks from a club season. That's a big commitment.
Which they didn't - beaten 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out.Originally Posted by PapaLazarou
