    Darren Bent

Have to say I was very impressed with Darren bent today. sitting in the south stand really noticed how intelligent his movement is. he'd score a hat full playing in a team with a cesc fabregas to pick out his runs! chris martin showed how good he is at picking out a pass.

I'm not the least bit worried about the missed chances. I'm much more concerned when a striker doesn't get into the position to get them.

he looked hungry for goals. obviously a bit rusty but will improve with games. mac has a difficult decision now on whether to accommodate him with a different formation.

he did more in 15 minutes than leon best did in his entire dcfc career!

Agree he looked a useful player if the system is adjusted to play to him. Too often our regulars tried to walk the ball in the net when Bent was in a good position I did notice he didn't draw players to him that much which gave him space but left the box crowded around the guy with the ball.
When they get used to him it will be better.
Not sure it wol work with Martin playing as deep as he did in second half. Apparently it was under orders but why waste him!

Not difficult. But yes, there were plenty of times that Bent was ready to go off the blocks but the pass went wide instead. Trick is to play our normal system whilst also being able to accommodate Bent.
Clearly we cannot do 3-5-2; we should "stick to the knitting" ie what we do best

need more time before I like to comment on him. but 1 thing worries me, we sign all this players, then if McClaren walks, what happens? are we stuck with deadwood huge wage bill etc? A new manager will bring his own I'm sure. we musnt get carried signing players, unless we're sure McClaren is staying.

Bent only on loan tho. At end of season we may do a deal (if we go up). Hardly saddling club with massive financial commitments

I actually think Shteeve has been very shrewd in 12mths using loan system to manage within FFP

Bent was excellent Saturday, and dropping him tomorrow would be harsh. With Russell injured and Ibe gone, I can see us using the diamond more regularly.

Like rapid says, missing chances isn't a problem. Playing games will solve that, as his confidence will grow. His partnership with Martin already looks promising, so if they get a good run of games together, I can see them scoring a ton between them.
