"Scottish Fitba needs The Rangers" claims

I'm sorry gents but if yesterday's fare is anything to go by Scottish Fitba can do without The Rangers.

Far more pressing for Scottish Fitba on the weekends evidence is a better standard of referees, and a national fitba stadium that doesn't cut up the first time in months a game of fitba is played on it!

I thought the reffing in both games was poor and took from the spectacle.

The Rangers looked like what they were yesterday - a team out of their depth, bereft of ideas, and with an ageing squad some of whom were years past their best.

Instead of a great game in front of a capacity crowd it turned out to be a very damp squib with the game effectively over long before half time :/

I feel similarly that Scottish football doesn't need Rangers (or Celtic, for that matter). I'm not sure this can be said often enough. And if what you're saying is correct, I'm glad to hear the game was pretty poor. If this helps in any way whatsoever to dampen the disturbing enthusiasms of (some of) the journalists in Scotland who value this game then that can only be for the good.

re: "Scottish Fitba needs The Rangers" claims

After the anti-climax that was Sunday when The Rangers were playing one of the big clubs of Scottish Fitba, methinks the last thing that Scottish Fitba needed was for them to actually meet at this stage of The Rangers development

The anticipation of the event by many far outweighed what actually happened and as a result blew away any notion that what our fitba needed was their elevation to the top flight.

I've little doubt that Hearts and even Hibs would have put up more of a battle in the semi-final than what we saw on Sunday from The Rangers who seemed more intent on damage limitation than actually trying to challenge Celtic.

Zero attempts on goal in the semi-final of a national cup in a derby game is a sad indictment of what purports to be one of Scotlands leading clubs

it was a poor game thats for sure. cant fault sevco for endeavour but they lacked quality in most areas. celtic were just p1sh beyond belief and didnt really deserve to be 2-0 up in the first place, so sevco were a bit unlucky in that respect. celtic should have been able to at least control the game better and create far more chances than they did, as were far better than what sundays performance suggested.

the pitch was a shocker too but thats no excuse.

    [no subject]

It's clear that the only thing in Scotland that misses the Rangers is the Celtic.

Why the rest of the teams let them dictate Scottish football is beyond me. All the other teams should resign from the SPFL and let them try to join the English leagues, like they threaten to do every year.

Unfortunately for them, the English don't want them and even if they did, I'm sure the Glasgow Police would have something to say about having English fans rampaging through the streets of the city every weekend.

nobody lets celtic dictate everything. and if all the rest of the diddy sides resigned from the spfl they would be resigning from a uefa sanctioned tournament. they would therefore be replaced by the next set of diddy sides from the division below, and if they wanted back into the spfl they would need to start at ther bottom.

the spfl isnt going to stop cos diddy sides resign from it. other diddy sides would step into thier shoes.

Celtic totally dominated the game Rev and Gordon had about three crosses tae deal with and that was it...we don't create/convert enough chances for the possession we have in most games but hopefully that will come.

Nearly happened a few years ago until some of the chairmen of the 'Diddy' clubs bottled it.

thought we scored 2 without really deserving it pogue. it was our first 2 efforts at goal, we never really got going, which was dissapointing considering how poor rangers were. would liked to have created more chances in the 2nd half.

watched it in the boozer and many celtic fans were frustrated with the performance. not getting the killer 3rd goal didnt help.
