    Warnock Red

    Was he worth 2 bookings?

    re: Warnock Red

There's too much inconsistency with some refs, rightly, letting some things go because it's a mans game and others booking at the first opportunity. The ref today was the latter type. Within the letter of the law both bookable offences, but it's not football! And it's put us out the cup against a team we, with our second 11, were much better than.

Sounded like he was a bit daft giving the ref the option to send him off tbh.

The experienced signing we needed according to many???

    Too long at Leeds

Warnock was just rusty and a bit too fired-up on his debut - two challenges that gave a fussy referee the change to book him - I was annoyed with the 2nd, because Warnock was clipped just before he fouled their player - if the ref had given the foul on Warnock, there'd have been no Red card...
Really didn't understand the ref's approach - it was if he'd never seen a cup-tie before and wanted to referee it like a netball game - spolit what could have been a really entertaining game

A tad harsh, he was being overenthusiastic!

Stephen Warnock acknowledged that his stupidity cost us the game today by apologising on Twitter.

Clearly he was over-revved up. You could see by some of his early long passes that he didn't have the right focus. For a senior pro who has played in big Prem games he should have sorted himself out.

    Still, showed maturity by apologising.

Also, showed that Mac was correct not to blood him sooner as some were calling for Warnock to replace Fozzy in the League line-up.

Warnock's tweet says it all. As soon as I saw him going in on that lunging challenge I thought he's off. Absolute needless stupidity which cost us the match.

What we have to remember is that Warnock used to play for Leed and is used to making such brainless dirty challenges. He'll need a few more weeks coaching by Mac and his team to get this style of play out of his system.

Nothing harsh I'm afraid... Watched them again on MOTD and both bookings. Over enthusiastic is not a defence.
