    Charlie

Have to take back what I was saying about our greens last week - they'd been cut & rolled for this morning and, considering all the rain we'd just had, were quick and true. Have to say it's been a while since they've been that good.

To cap it, managed to put together a very tidy round (sub-par), with the only blemish of note being a clumsy double on one of the easiest holes on the course.

On a related note, hope your meeting the other evening was informative and productive - look forward to hearing all about it next weekend.

Well played Papa. Sub par is always good, glad to here you place is in decent shape for the time of year.
The meeting went on for over two hours and was very well presented. they are not digging the place up, but doing a lot of remedial drainage on half the greens this year and half next. Subject to the weather it looks like probably May before we are going to be in decent shape. A lot more to tell, fill you in at the Liverpool match.

    Cheers, Charlie.

Wouldn't say our greens are great but, after a cut and a roll on Friday, they're not at all bad for this time of the year. Played this morning though and, because they took a fair bit of traffic yesterday, they were back to being a tad on the bumpy side with deadweight putts tending to drift off at the death - at least that's my excuse for taking a few more putts than the 26 I had yesterday !

Good to hear they think yours can be saved rather than having to replace. No doubt considerably cheaper and, if they can be repaired, then May should come around real quick.

Didn't play this weekend, but knocked 25 seconds off my previous personal best at Woking parkrun time trial on Saturday.

25 seconds is a big chunk off your PB - nice work, and a great marker for all your efforts !

Sounds like you two are seriously good golfers. I just wish I'd taken it up earlier in life. If I could ever learn to chip I might make single figures, but I know how Tiger feels at the mo...

Your that rich then! Good on yer Chiswick.

Seriously good can be subjective. Sometimes it seems as though I couldn't hit a cows backside with a banjo and other times everything goes down the middle, the short game is sharp and the putts roll in. With me its always timing issues, if I put the hours in to practice, which I do if I am taking it seriously, my game raises noticeably.
Some people like Papa have a natural golf swing - I hate him - only joking Papa.

Yeah, taking the game up properly at 40 doesn't lead to a natural golf swing. I take my 9 year old daughter for lessons and it's frustrating watching her swing, completely unhindered by age.

I got the handicap down quickly to 16 and then it completely stalled. I don't spend enough time practicing at the mo. Strengths are irons and putting, weaknesses are driving (natural fade/slice costs me too much distance which is a nightmare at my course where most tee shots suit a draw) and chipping (I'm just hopeless).

I regularly play with a guy mid 50's off 1, and it just seems utterly effortless. Sounds like Papa!!
