    my take on yesterday

I went to the game with my daughter and when I wasn't answering her constant questions I got to see a masterclass in fluffing countless chances I almost thought we had a couple of Andy Coles up front
One chance Rhodes had it would of been harder to miss than score but yet he still missed with the header and gestede must of had a issue with the bar as several times he blasted against it
The long and short of it Gary bowyer can't really take the flack for that result
Bit of a positive note spearing is a bit special and a shame we signed him when we did if we had him earlier we would have alot more positive results
Oh yes before I sign off I don't like pointing the finger but hanley didn't do much wrong until the goal sloppy marking but you just get the impression he is the first on the team sheet every week.

Thanks for the input re; the game (for Aucks) Robin.
You pretty much have said what I suggested Dan/Howie would have said. Re; poor finishing.
That in itself is not a ball breaker, if you stay tight at the back after notching at least one
And that is, and has been the problem all season.
We are where we are quite deservedly, there's no getting away from that.
No it's not GB's fault that the front men failed to put away at least 3 or 4. But, IMO he is in the most prominent position to effect ways in eradicating ongoing issues.

This is the underlying problem we are getting punished for a moment of sloppiness in many games this season
Does anybody know a stat for how many goals we have conceded from set pieces this season?
To me it seems alot as you have posted on another thread(I think it's you)that needed to be addressed on the training pitch but it hasn't happened we are stagnating and we have one glamour game left then it's ticking off the weeks until the new season
Will it be under bowyer?more than likely

Thanks, Robin. Perhaps we have to put this result (season?) down to one of Murphy's Laws: "Whatever you think can't go

As I'm mentioned I'll add my bits. Hanley had the best game I've seen for quite some time. I fully understood Spurr being in the line up, we've missed him. No disrespect to Olsson, who has been brilliant, but Spurr is more skillful and a better tackler. He doesn't have Olsson's pace though. Although we created loads of chances, our midfield were the major let downs. They took too many touches before moving the ball on, this allowed Blackpool to get back in numbers. Credit to Blackpool players for their workrate yesterday, they ran and ran and ran. We needed incisive quick passes to the wing, (Olsson?) and runners going into the box. That way we'd have got in behind them and scored a hatful. Too slow as usual, the Rovers way I'm afraid.

Edit: and yes, both Hanley and Killgaleon went to sleep for Blackpools goal.

    re: my take on yesterday

My take on it, having had a rare day off and was able to attend.

I don't rate Spearing. I never have. I don't think he adds anything of note. That was my first chance to see him live, having seen the odd game on TV. My opinion hasn't changed. He is not the answer. I don't like how we keep dealing with Bolton, who have royally messed us about with Baptiste. Or Spearing, who already turned us down. If he's not good enough for them, he isn't for us.

I think Gestede is sulking. He clearly wanted to go to Palace, and I'd drop him. I thought his whole demeanour yesterday was poor from minute one. I've never been convinced of him & Rhodes together. Our manager still hasn't figured out the best way of using Rhodes. Supplying him. So that partnership has never flourished. Yesterday proved that even more. I'd get shut of Gestdede in the summer.
King ...last week was just a one off, where everything went right. Yesterday he was clear through twice and didn't seem to have a clue what to do? Y

Champs, putting aside your multitude of gripes and just focussing upon your disinterested slant, this seems to reflect my suspicion of the squad living in GB's 'comfort zone'. In addition my long standing concern over a midfield driving/motivating force ie lack of. Would a Dunny of a few years back and passion have made the required difference?

Another game and another discussion about changes.

Been the same alllllllll season..hit on a winning team/formation ,we change it for the following game then the next then the next...

Every week we all have a go at picking the team, and id be surprised if one of us gets it correct. Says it all really.

Its beginning to make those cup wins look like GB just got lucky rather than good management. I just wish that after hes finally chucked thes into hat and found a winning team he d stick to it.

As for resting players ..yawn ..

Be careful Howie, I 'suggested' that a while back ie if you shuffle the pack often enough you probably find that winning hand now and again.
Yet again I must stress that this is not saying that GB is useless, far from it. For me it's a case of indecisiveness more than anything brought about by him still IMO too far down the learning curve.
