I would like to see 2 defending midfielders.
Thorne and omar with hughes playing further forward.
I think this would stop the need for buxton and keogh to run out with the ball and just concentrate on defending. With the pace upfront of linegard,ince and bent being surported by will Hughes
This is the team i would like to see.

so just to clarify, you'd like us to ditch the system that's got us to of the league?

the team you've proposed looks a very good one and suits those players down to the ground but surely we have to stick with what has served us so well. maybe this could be a tactic used to sure things up if we're under the cosh and winning a game?

I've given omar a lot of stick for not defending the back 4 and rightly so I believe but I've always said I think we'd be a very good player with a proper defensive midfielder along side him. someone like thorne would allow omar to control the pace of the game and consequently hughes could express himself further up the pitch.

the danger is that if someone came to PP and packed the midfield with a physical bunch we may get outnumbered and struggle to control the game.

This is a sort of Chelsea shape and, should we get promoted, might be a scheme more suited to the PL. Although in thar scenario we might not have Omar (or Ince or Lingard).

Not convinced that it's right for Tuesday especially as Thorne still finding his way back to match day fitness.

Would also like to see Raul or Juan or Pedro or whatever we have decided to call him start on Tuesday to give Keogh a break

I too would like to see this team play but I doubt we will. Those 3 in midfield could be awesome...

I agree more a prem team with the exception of Keogh & Buxton. Just a shame your front 3 are not Derby players.

Not Derby players yet, I expect we will sign Ince and bent if we go up, no chance with Jesse tho unfortunately
