What happened to the Black Lion pub in Salford mate.

Did it change hands or just close?

Had a great couple of days there in 2008.

black lion ...i assume you mean somewhere on chapel street ..? ( the main drag into manchester & just before salford station ...)

my old fella ran a few pubs in salford for yrs mate & if the black lion was indeed on chapel street its more Than likely its been pulled down , the whole area is being done up ( so they tell us anyway ) , was it near the Salford arms pub ..?

My old man had a few on Salford precinct , the flat iron being one & the Waverley on Eccles old rd , some rum feckers used to go both pubs !


that all said , if you ever visit manchester again mate , try the nothern quater ...much more relaxed & traditional pubs , was you down here for the UEFA cup final mate .? & one last question , have you heard off or do you recall a poster by the of blue nose bob ..?

Aye Bw it was on the corner of Chapel St, and opposite the road was what looked like new flats at the time. We were down for the final and got parked under some railway arch not to far away. They had no rooms left so we ended up sleeping in the lounge on the top floor.

Happy days, and was somewhat eventful, great hosts and the locals in the pub were superb, Man United I'm led to believe.

Will get down again but without the entourage this time.

As for blue nose bob he still posts on Rangers Media if it's the same fella.

yeah think i know which one you mean , however & as said even since the UEFA final , its all changed round there ...who ever heard of yuppies in salford eh !

i have met up with bob a couple of times ( rangers mad ) last one being at the final , really nice bloke btw , he mails me every now & again

if you ever venture down again mate , let me know eh , buy you a beer or 2 ;-)

you never know , perhaps bwfc will play rangers at some point eh

Will do, that was the plan. TTNY as well. First weekend in June.

I'll sort it out with Bw, thinking of Rochdale Friday night and then Centre Saturday whatever suits. I'll let you know ok bud.
