Wish him well - seems to have loads of credentials to be fair.
Hopefully we'll now last longer in games before they look puggled!

Now all we need is an ability coach... pity all this investment is all the off field support is gonna arrive too late and our subsequent relegation should see all these innovative posts done away with again.

So we appeared to have had a fitness issue after all. Why would we otherwise appoint a fitness coach?

I am impressed by the forward thinking that goes into such an appointment. Clearly, this is not about the next 12 games, but it is to be hoped that should the worst happen and we are relegated that this investment remains in place.
IB has identified a number of things that have had to be addressed and the board are backing him financially.

We certainly have injury problems, will his appointment make the dross we have any faster or any better quality I doubt it. They don't have it in the first place. A fitness coach can improve all sorts of things but sometimes they need to have the basics to start with. Thats not to say a modern club should have one they can work wonders with guys who have what it takes in the first place. I just don't accept that a fitness coach will make Carswell, Law , Leitch , Angol , Vigurs, O'brien etc better players. He may make them less injury prone, will he add pace to them no. Will he add stamina possibly. With them all that means is they won't be puffed out when they trudge off the park after another predictable defeat because these guys just don;t have the basics to start with.

I agree the total rebuild that is happening is for the long term and a big step forward regardless of whither or not we are relegated its forwad thinking.

it is a forward looking move to make us more professional, it looks like the criticism of McCall's pre-season regime was spot on.

He maybe wanted all these things and LD wouldnt fund it. However we never had a fitness coach under McGhee or Brown and we did just fine. McCalls culpability lies in his belief in absolute dross and believing they were spl standard when they weren't.
