    Nathaniel Clyne

New contract rejected by the player, according to the Express.

Hardly a surprise if true - clubs will be queueing up to offer him twice, maybe three times what we'd be prepared to pay him.

A big loss if he does go as he's been one of our most consistent performers in his time here. - view external link

I can understand him waiting to see what could be on offer in the summer should we qualify for Europe the club would be able to offer him more.We will probably lose him in the summer and no doubt a replacement is already be identified.I for one will be sorry to see him go, but he is an outstanding talent.

The Media did this last year and they have done it to every club that has shown a challenge to the big Five. They complain about the monopoly of the same five but play their part in undermining any club that attempts to break into this group.Tottenham,Everton,Newcastle even Blackburn when they won it have suffered.

They are talking about 15 million which seems a low estimate if true.

Agree with Grannie. Trouble is the power of the Champions League is so strong, that combined with some old fashioned media views on 'big clubs'.

If it's true and there is no chance of him signing a new contract then it's catch 22. Keep an unhappy player and watch the value drop or cash in and say thanks for the memories. I'll go for the later

Come the summer, I think there's just one year left on his contract - probably explains the low estimate.

Reckon he'll be off to Man. U in the summer. If that's the case, then we should ramp the price up, there will be some massive rebuilding going on the in the close season.

Cant say that I am surprised. Once they start dithering over the offer of a new contract you can guess the rest. However lets get through to the end of the season and see where we end up. Clyne is a good player and it would be a shame to see him go, but that's big time football. Providing Ronald and the backroom staff have a decent replacement in mind, and we get a big transfer fee, it is not a disaster.

    Chelsea now interested, apparently.

If he is to go, the more teams interested, the better.
A bidding war is probably the only way we will get a decent fee, for him.

Between now and the end of the season I'm sure other big-name suitors from all over the place will be linked with him. Man Utd would suit him as he'd get to play every week, whereas at Chelski he's contending with Ivanovic and also Azpilicueta who can play RB.

Take the bucks, spend a portion of it on a young suitor (Sam Byrom, for example) who can adequately fill the void, thanks for everything Nate and we all move on.
