    Referees

We have, yet again, had a referee in charge of our match who does not seem to understand the way the game works. I really can't be bothered to dissect his performance decision by decision. Suffice to say, he was happy to let the game flow but when he did decide to bring the play back for a foul it was usually because of an injury. Greg Leigh was taken out twice in the second half and on the second occasion was put out of the game by his defender jumping at him and catching him with either head or elbow. Should have been a red card because it was a dangerous challenge as proved by the fact that Leigh had to go off not knowing what day it was. I am not saying every official we have had has been poor. Far from it. The ones who have been good have been very good. But the ones who have been poor have not been fit to referee Sunday league in my view. I know it is a difficult job but some of the decisions today were not difficult. Poor refereeing to book Tate and Stephens for grappling in th

Well you get 2 in every Pack, but when you do get one Managers and teams should know by now how to cope with the situation and not get drawn in!
Refs don't stop the Sub's to come on!I think SD was waiting for Swindon to score before at Last he brought on Inman with 4min to go,what a missed opportunity to Win the game. Why do Crewe have sub's for I wonder sometimes!

For possibly the first time I have changed my opinion of a ref from incompetent and intimidated, to almost blatantly partisan and cheating.

In the first half we had a clear penalty decision he 'didn't see'; as stated, the attacks on Ness were designed to injure; Haber was used a climbing frame; and Tate (silly for the second yellow) was caught in a strangle hold at a corner! From the off the ref. seemed to have set out a game plan based on: book an Alex player first to stamp my authority on the game. He failed miserably.

I'd love to see the 4th officials report on the game - if he does one.

Being a very occasional poster on here (but attending many games) I like to think I'm quite balanced. Itwasin please get off your the pedestal you seem to be on. Have you played the game, do you know how it works...? I struggle to understand you sometimes (let alone punctuation). Today was a proper game of football, the ref was poor, Swindon played the ref...but do you know how hard it is to bring someone fresh on in that sort of game. A good point for me.

Failure to get Inman on was down to the fact that the ball didn't go out of play for about 5 minutes. And when it did, we were defending a corner and substitutions aren't generally made when defending corners and free kicks. The game WAS very entertaining and the ref WAS very poor particularly in his reasoning to wave yellow cards round in a somewhat eccentric fashion. It was never a game that warranted 11 flashes of a card. I thought we were marginally the better side and I wouldn't have made any substitutions any earlier than the manager today.

It was 13 cards technically was n't it? As both the reds were second yellows, the fact that two players were dismissed for innocuous incidents should tell him how poor and devoid of common sense he was.

He did n't try very hard to keep all the players on the pitch and not doing so short changes the spectators even though both departures were towards the end of the game.

Anyway, agree with Timmy and Gerald basically, today was a good day, game was of a high standard despite him - I can see why Swindon are near the top and we gave as good as we got - players, management and fans all performed/encouraged well.

All our lads did well and put in a shift, would n't want to single anybody out really.

9 yellows and 2 reds, so 11 in total. Ness and Grant were excellent in midfield and Ray and Davis likewise in defence. Haber also played very well.

11 cards in total and Grant wasn't one of them

Good game to watch for a 0-0 but the referee was poor. Swindon's manager called it right, the ref booked players for simple fouls so he backed himself into a corner and had to produce a red in the end in a game where there wasn't really a bad tackle, apart from on Leigh a couple of times maybe (and that lad didn't get sent off ironically!)

Good game management from the Ref wouldn't have booked the Swindon lad and Tate for their incident in the second half at the corner but would have talked to them both and said 'enough' if I see it again its yellow for you both. That was the first incident he noticed in the area and he booked them both. Ray was practically strangled in the area in the 1st half and he 'didn't see it'. Penalty definitely.

Shame the Ref had a poor game because, like I said at the top, it was a good game to watch but ruined by an official.

Pity we didn't have Mike Dean today, and not this card-happy clown.

Palace's Glenn Murray ran around like a testosterone-fuelled bunny all afternoon, was booked for a scything tackle but only given a ticking off for a far worse one, then dived twice, and since he was still on the pitch, took advantage of his good luck to score twice before more fouling and at last a sending-off. He could have walked twice. Why do lower-league refs not exercise a modicum of discretion?

It's very tough to lose Tate, but I suppose the upside is that we couldn't expect anything from Tuesday's game. Still, he might have kept the score down.

Not sure I'm with you ...?
Lost 4 of their last 5 and no Matty Done!
This is anything but a bonus game!
