Sadly for the fans - yes. Happily for the players - yes, an exodus.
Highly-rated Queen of the South youngster Kevin Holt could be set for a summer switch to Dundee.
The Dark Blues have held secret negotiations with the 22-year-old, widely regarded as one of the best young full-backs in the lower tier of Scottish football.
Manager Paul Hartley is said to have travelled to meet the left-back personally, underlining his intent to get the Dumfries-born defender tied up on a deal for next season.
It had been expected that Dundee would complete the signing of Alloa’s Daryll Meggatt but talks between Holt and the club would cast doubt over that somewhat.
It’s not out of the question that both would put pen to paper but one thing that seems set in stone is the future of current incumbent Willie Dyer.
With his contract set to end in May, it’s becoming increasingly unlikely the former Morton man will be offered a new deal.
And with Paul obviously casting his net far and wide in search of full-back reinforcements, the exit door looks to be the only option f

when when when will queens learn ,for a club our size we need to follow the way hamilton are ran ,we need long term contracts for players when thay first sign for the club explaining to them that we wont stand in a players way when thay want to move on but we will require there valuation .
When, when, when, will people realise these situations are not all one-sided.
I would imagine agents would advise against their 'clients' signing long-term deals as it could put off potential suitors.
They would want their 'clients' to be as available as possible for their next move.
Whether it's Managers or Players there are 2 scenarios - if we do well they will move on, if we don't do well no-one will want to know.
I for one , am grateful for the good times and obviously would want those to continue for as long as possible but knowing full well some players will move on.
They would have my thanks and best wishes for a successful future career.
Plenty still to look forward to yet though !
Both Nithvalley and Francis Begbie make valid points and it is a matter of timing with regards to extending the contracts.
If Queens win handsomely tomorrow night on TV expect Kidd, Durnan, Holt and McShane to be on the shopping lists of many clubs. If we lose, we will possibly retain them.
I have to say that If I was advising Kevin Holt about his future - a move to Dundee would be very close to the bottom of my expectations.
A bigger club than Queens certainly but on the playing side probably only marginally betterthan us and little or no chance of honours and life changing income potential.
If players like McNulty,Scougall.stuart Murdoch can moveto get English League 1 then there is no reason why our sought after stars cannot follow suit.
Speak to Hartley by all means and keep his offer in reserve but I would be very surpised if that is the extent of the interest come the end of the season.
Spot on NV and fans must accept that we must we must keep within our budget or else we will have no club to watch.Originally Posted by nithvalley
A previous poster compared us with Hamilton which is unfair as they are currently being bankrolled by a millionaire.
I
I am sure a agent would prefer a client tied up on a long term contract than a yearly one with the risk of becoming a free agent without a club.
As for living within budget, agree but players such as Holt, Durnan an Reilly are a guaranteed investment potential so stretching a 2 yearly could pay dividends.
Holt has been with Queens from a very young age so we will be due a sizeable development fee. The length of contract he is on is fairly irrelevant.
The only thing we will miss out on is being able to negotiate "add-ons" into any deal. I'd imagine the club will be quite happy to take a lump sum though rather than speculating over possible future income that might not materialise.
Dee lost over £800,000 in the last financial year and are now over £3,000,000 in debt (again!). Could be heading for another administration? If I was Kevin I'd try to get a move to a Club in England ...
