    GOalkeeper

I have major concerns over this position. I don't normally criticise players who are doing their best but Paul rabucha really doesn't look good enough and I sense the defenders in front of him know that. With every goal against crucial now I think action is needed. I am usually very supportive of the prudent way the the club is run but I think this is one occasion when the board need to go the extra mile for steve Davis. Paul maybe would have been ok to warm the bench but I think we would have gone for somebody. Better if we had known about Ben garret's injury. If no action is taken I think relegation is almost assured . Does anybody agree with me ?

I feel bound to say that it is a concern although the guy looked ok against Swindon on Saturday. I do feel that Tate is the major player in the remaining matches as he seems to have something of a steadying influence on the other defenders. I also feel that it would help matters if Toots were fit again.

I would prefer Bailey back as RB. He has done well for a young'un.

This thread was originally about the goalkeeping situation. As stated on another thread, in Tuesday night's match commentary on Radio Stoke he was described as nervous, shaky, unconvincing etc. etc. Now is that what our already leaky defence needs? He is hardly inspiring confidence at the moment. Unfortunately we just seem to have a history of poor goalkeepers (Ben Garratt excepted, obviously!)

For me the problem at Rochdale was the defence as a whole not the keeper.

Against Swindon last week and today Rabchuka looked good to me, today with Tate and Leigh restored to the team ,we looked better again as a unit.

It is a blow that BG is injured but I think that Radio Stoke and Richard Sharpe should support the keeper not be niggling away saying he looks shaky and nervous ( ultimately PR is the only option we have) !

Crewe have always had decent goalkeepers but its been going downhill since Dario let Ince go?
This goalkeeper reminds me to much of probably the worst Goalkeeper Crewe ever had and that was FERGUSON from Darlington in the old 4th Div.

Itwasin, you clearly were not at the game today as our keeper did nothing wrong. And much right.

Pretty much agree with this, I was n't at Rochdale but none of the goals looked like they were his fault when I watched them back.

He's been sound in both home games and kept two clean sheets, his kicking is an asset too.

The local media have to call it as they see it (as we all do) but it's unlikely he'd be nervous given his experience levels - I wonder if he'd be described in those terms were it not for his unfortunate start at Barnsley?

Given the circumstances, the time of the season and the budget,

    I've yet to be convinced.
The stats state a few clean sheets, and I have not seen the Alex away recently. His kicking is pretty good.
Where my doubts persist are in his positioning and reading of the game, plus his handling. I love to see dramatic saves, but I'd settle for solid 'keeping that makes it look 'lucky to be in the right place'.

Ben Garratt has faced - and saved - much better shots without looking so theatrical.

Lets hope I am talking out of my tree and am proved solidly wrong.
