    Team Selection Vs Oldham

Apologies if this has already been covered but my god how wrong did Davis get our team yesterday?

Formation: This was the main contributor to our loss to Oldham. If you're playing 4-4-2 then surely you need to provide width in the form of wingers to supply the strikers? The diamond formation left us far too narrow and predictable. I could read every single one of our so called attacks so a professional defender would be rubbing his hands together. Why change from the 5-3-2 that has recently served us so well?

Team: Tate is our one proper defender. He talks to the younger players and organises them as well as he can do. So why take him out of defence and play him in midfield? Lunacy. Grant is our most important player if you ask me. He breaks up attacks, is tough and wins countless free kicks when we're under the cosh. So why play him on the left of the diamond? Lunacy. Cooper, along with Ness, is our most creative and attacking midfielder. So why give him 2 minutes action when we've

Have to agree and it's not the first time regarding formation. Rochdale four centre halves and Jones left back at Bristol just two of the strange decisions.Baffled.

Wtf is a 'bonus' game by the way?

Brad Inman needs to be brought back into the team and given a few games...he had a poor game at Rochdale but deserves a few games to get some form back..he's a clever player and they looked in short supply yesterday.

I agree, Brad has not been given a run of games this season to prove himself. 10 mins here and there with the odd full game every now and again is not the way to gain form. He is capable of creating something out of nothing and that is what is needed at the moment.

Also agree, problem is now a few of the attacking minded players need games. According to SD they can't fit into the current formation and will have to convince him to change formation. After Saturday's performance he should be rethinking that himself.
Considering Ness appears not 100% I would look at something like this

    Bailee Davis Tate Leigh
    Turton Granty Jones
    Inman
    Ajose Cooper

Keep it down and play through the middle.
There is now no use to a 5:3:2 formation that is leaking goals and concedes possession.

    My team would be

    Bailey davis tate leigh
    Grant jones
    inman cooper
    Ness
    Uche

Get the shackles of and get players forward but do it by having players who can carry and retain the ball on the floor. Go back to playing the crewe way.
    We are not nantwich!!!!!!

So no place in your team for top scorer Ajose, but you will pin your faith in a 19 year old who does not score. Interesting. Personally, I feel our mid field looked at its strongest when we had Turton and Grant in midfield with Ness in front of them with the idea that they win the ball and give it to the man who can pass through the eye of a needle. I agree, it has been poor for a while but the reality is, the best players available are playing. The system has been working but after two heavy defeats against the best two teams in the league (teams that when we played them around Christmas time we garnered 4 points from them)confidence has understandably dipped. We are not good defensively so I agree we should be setting up to have a go, but the problems with that are the likelihood of even bigger thrashings. I don't think any of us have the definitive answer but we should all be behind the team, even when it is difficult, as it was on Saturday. Don't forget, our home record has been go

I get that the Uche debacle wasn't ideal (though Haber has done well) but I don't understand why we've gone away from the 5-2-1-2 (Ray, Davis, Tate, Leigh, Baillie, Jones, Grant, Ness, Ajose and Uche) that was working so well? Sure the goalkeeping situation isn't ideal and we have played some very strong teams but playing Jones out of position and Baillie going missing seems to have coincided with us being poor recently.

And Alan Tate in midfield is absolutely ridiculous. Our best centre half trying to sit and play the ball out when he's too slow and not good enough on the ball. WE HAVE GOOD PASSERS OF THE BALL IN THE SQUAD, USE THEM!

SD is making Tate look a worse player than we all know he is by playing him out of position and giving him an excuse to substitute him these last 3 matches. Don't waste our best defender!
