Interesting..firstly Steve has done a great job..if he were to move on, then based on the last few weeks at Crawley, I would have to go for Dean Saunders
If Steve Davis isn't the right manager, who would you replace him with ?

Firstly, I hope that if Davis goes it is because he has a better job and not because he has been sacked. Secondly, if he were to get another position, Saunders would not be the worst choice, but I suspect we would promote from within
Hopefully an irrelevant question (at least to the end of the season).Originally Posted by supercrewe
You would like Saunders based on a few weeks at Crawley - but was he not a failure at Wrexham and at Doncaster? (I think it was Doncaster). Better to go with somebody who has not been tainted with failure.
I DO NOT KNOW WHO!!!!!!
would of liked a manager with a bit of grit
martin allen - paul pesky solido - mike mckenzie
but with no budget who would come
Craig Hignett for me IF it came to this scenario.
Good shout ...Craig Hignett
Hignett a good shout and ambitious shout danny murphy.
For me though I would get rid of davis right now personally I would of in september and replace him with danny wilson.
The so called real fans will defend davis until we are in the conference but the last 2 years have been dire. Even at the end of dario's second coming when things were bad wetried to play attacking football on the deck. Now we play like port vale without the hardmen who can tackle. DAVIS OUT NOW
Danny Murphy would be amazing but I think he could start higher if he wanted to. Kenny Lunt is looking the most likely, who I would be happy with. We need someone like that who wants to use the younger players and wants to keep the ball and attack teams. Anyone external will be a risk (Gudjon) and anyone internal could go wrong (Holland) so I still believe Davis is the right man for the job.
I must admit I am on the side of keeping Steve Davis and Neil Baker until the end of the season, then let them go, even if The Alex stay up or not. I just think Steve, Neil and Crewe have run their courses, I’m not saying Steve has become a bad lower league manager or he doesn’t fit into the Crewe structure, I just think there are better options open for both. Let’s face it we are all very aware if any job offer should come Steve’s way he’d be off like a scalded cat, and with that in mind I don’t feel that The Alex owe him any great commitment of loyalty, equally Steve has made no secret of his desire to leave given the chance.
With that in mind as for who would replace Steve and Neil, I think the club should look no further than the most successful management team currently at The Alex,ly Alex Morris and Kenny Lunt. With The Alex having just reported losses of nearly four hundred thousand pounds and Crewe having already lost good potential management material ,ly Neil Crit
