    Tommy Spurr

So Spurr reckons we will not let the season peter out.

Just like Bowyer said he wanted a strong finish to the season last week

Just like Bowyer said we would definitely be involved in the play offs a few weeks ago.

This is just insulting the fans intelligence.

Anyone who understands the game knows that the Rovers are no better than a mid table side. The form book, the points tally and the defensive stats confirm that.

All they do by coming out with these ridiculous statements is make themselves a laughing stock and lose all credibility with the fans.

Can we please have some honest assessments. At least after the Brighton game Bowyer admitted finally the standards of the players was unacceptable. I can deal with that honesty so long as he does something about it.
I hope a few players were given the same honest view that they completely failed the shirt and will need to work darn hard to get another shot at wearing it again.

Its only to be expected really.
At least he has the common sense to quote the mathematical theme, albeit I very much doubt he would wager next months salary on it.
I addition he does concede that the fatigue/tiredness should not be used too readily, as by and large all their opponents are in a similar situation.
The lad doesn't strike me as a bull***t merchant, so I see him as just toeing the team/squad ethic.
But yes you are right, for us on the 'outside' we can view it with a tad more realism.

    re: Tommy Spurr

But what do we want him to say?
How about: "Well, we're not going to bother in our last few matches because there's nothing resting on them."
As for comments from other players and GB, I reckon most of the recent ones have been more honest than the ones we got from people like Kean and Sam. Of course Bowyer was still talking about the play-offs while the mathematical possibility existed. That is standard practice and part of a manager's brief.
GB has often been pictured as "too friendly with the players", but I see nothing in his recent statements to confirm that he is a soft touch.

It would be nice for a player to come out(possibly captain)and say we have let the fans and the manager down our performances have not met our own standards and have not met expectations
Sadly we are fed little tit bits which as rv blue rightly said is a insult to our intelligence.

I just don't think that's fair. Below is a copy of Craig Conway's recent comment on the BRFC site. It very much echoes GB's own words and acknowledges the problems:

'Craig Conway felt that the 2-2 draw with Birmingham City on Tuesday night was symptomatic of their season.
Missed chances once again proved costly as Rovers had to settle for a point at St. Andrew's after the home side twice came from behind.

The Rovers midfielder admits the team have lost points on far too many occasions this campaign and it will have to be something they address next year.

"That is why we are not up there," said Conway. "Results like that which we should have been win
