Thread: Team for tomorrow

    Team for tomorrow

    I would go with:

    Roos
    Hendrick
    Keogh
    Shotton
    Forsyth
    Hughes
    Bryson
    Ince
    Martin
    Lingard
    Bent

I would play 4-2-3-1, with Hendrick at RB. He looks like our best RB at the moment, even though he is meant to be a midfielder! Good positionally, strong in the tackle and quick. I would choose Roos over Grant. Grant is indecisive on crosses and unsettles the back four. Maybe he needs a bit of a wake up call. Hughes and Bryson would sit deep, behind the three of Ince (on the right), Lingard (on the left) and Martin (kind of at the tip of the diamond, where he can pull off his neat flick ons for Bent to run off the shoulders of the back four).

Without Thorne, this I feel is our best formation and best 11. Russell needs a rest. (If Albentosa is considered good enough, I'd put him in and move Shotton to RB, with Hendrick on the bench. However, I prefer the 11 I have picked).

    What are your thoughts?

    GK: Grant
    RB: Shotton
    CBs: Albentosa, Keogh
    LB: Warnock
CMs: Hughes, Hendrick (sitting deeper like against wolves)
    RW: Russell
    CAM: Ince
    LW: Lingaard
ST: Bent / Martin (only martin if he is 100% fit)

Best balance side in my opinion without a DM, only want to see Martin play if he is 100% fit otherwise don't risk him because may still have another 9 games to play this season.

In that formation you do not need your full backs to attack, for to long we have tried to play full backs because of what they offer us going forward rather than worrying about why they are ultimately there which is to defend, if anything we need more defensive minded full backs with the likes of lingaard and Ince playing wide anyway. That formation gives the most balance out of the fit players we have, no body out of position and a proper balance between defence and attack to effectively defend as a unit and build attacks and attack as a unit.
Also that formation and group of players gives a lot more experience

I don't think it actually matters who we pick...result will be the same.
