    5th..

Since it looks like we will get European football (and all that the Europa league brings) we might as well aim to improve on the best ever Premier League finish by any South Cost club, our 8th place.
    5th would do nicely.

5th would indeed do nicely. A very laboured performance yesterday particularly in the first half where Hull had us playing the way they wanted, pressing at our back line making difficult to play to feet meaning the back was in the air which suited their midfield.
second half Ronald changed things a bit, brining on JWP in my opinion MOM notwithstanding the penalty. In the end it was comfortable and we got the job done.

I have a lot of time for Steve Bruce I think he is an honest man. But I thought it a bit hypocritical suggesting that Pelle should have been sent off. Yes there was a flailing arm across the defenders face and these things always look worse in slow mo, it didn't look much at the time and the ref had a good look. What Bruce didn't say was how Bruce junior and Dawson were all over Pelle all afternoon like a cheap suit. Also one of his defenders got Big Vic booked in the second half spinning around when he lost the ball. Means Vic now has a two match suspension. Bu

It's wonderful to be into the 2nd half of April still in the top 5 of the Premier League. This is our most enjoyable season since we finished runners-up in 1984.

The ideal finish would be to go to the Etihad for our final game of the season, still in with a chance of a Champions League place. But, 5th or 6th place and avoiding the qualifying rounds of the Europa League would be great. Even 7th place will be the highest ever Premier League finish by a south coast club and get us in Europe, as long as either Arsenal or Liverpool win the FA Cup.

This is a record-breaking season, in which all of the Premier League records for south coast clubs are tumbling: highest place, biggest points total, most wins, most goals scored, fewest goals conceded etc.

Did football exist before the Premier League?

It did - in the same way that other trophies exist apart from the FA Cup.

Yes, but it was called Division 1 instead. Ironically we were in that for years whilst you hoofed around in the lower leagues as well

Thanks for confirming Fiddley. So wherever you finish this season won't be the highest position achieved by a S Coast club will it?

I think you just pissed on Cherry's bonfire!!

For someone who doesn't even have Sky, you've been very badly Premierised Cherry.

I guess you didn't get involved in your promotion seasons either?

It would be the highest ever PL finish which is what this thread relates to.

Right, but other than a re-branding exercise, how does the Premier League differ from the old Division 1?
