This may well be a long shot.
My Uncle passed away last year- his was Colin Chrystall- He used to play for Queen of the South. Through the information I have gathered previously I believe this must have been between 60's-70's. He may well have only made a handful of appearances. He was about 5ft 9 and played centre half (remarkably at the height!) or centre mid.
I would love it if anyone has any match reports or can possibly remember any games he played in?
I am running The Great North Run this year in his memory for Cancer Research and I am in the process of writing to your club to request sponsorship and it would be great to have a little more information on games and dates he played in.
Thank you for your time
John

My father remembers a Colin Chrystall who went to Noblehill school . He didn't though make any 1st appearances but may have played for the reserves of which there is little information I'm afraid ...
Apologies John , he made one sub appearance for the first team away to Stranraer on 10th Sept 1966 . Match ended 1-1.
Hello John, first of all may I offer my condolences for your loss. I remember Colin from secondary school, Dumfries Academy in the early 60's and I remember Colin from the football games we played on the Academy playing fields. Colin only ever played one match for Queens first team, on the 10th September 1966 at Stranraer, when he was the Substitute for the Queens that day. (In those days only one substitute was allowed!). Willie Morrison , playing for Queens then at right back, was stretchered off with 10 minutes to go and Colin substituted for him. Queens team was Ball; Morrison, Redhead: Collings, Brown, Ray Kerr; Davison, Smith, Dick, A.Law, Millar - Substitute Chrystall. The final score was 1-1 Stranraer scoring in the 7th minute and leading at Half Time, but Kenny Dick equalised in the 47th minute. Colin was playing with the Dumfries Club Crichton at the time and was on trial with Queens. I remember the last 10 minutes Colin really got "stuck in" and was lectured by the ref about

The mid 60's were when I started to get involved in running the Supporters buses ... used to keep a lot of records and went to every match home and away then ... I was escorted out of the Stranraer old stand in 1964-65 for supporting Queens by blowing a horn (made out of a cow's horn!)... the horns were all the rage in Germany then, but not acceptable in the deepest depths of Stranraer then! ...
