    Loss of Eustace

This season, fans will talk of George Thorne being the loss that cost us; but check out Eustace stats.

    This season:
    p13 W8 D4 L1

    Last season:
    P23 W14 D6 L3

Sorry Angry but those are FACTs!
    Without JE, we have struggled.

Sorry Chilli; as we know, some players only make their mark, when they don't play.

    Zzzzzzz
As I have said before, don't just do half the job..
Quality of opposition, form of opposition, league position of opposition. Just what exactly did John do in those games? He could have had a mare and cost us a goal in a 2-1 win?? What about the other 9 outfield players? Maybe they had nothing to do with those results?
You really need to go back to your man cave and do some real work.

You stats dudes just concentrate on what suits your argument.

We could have had 10 games against the Dog & Duck!!

Like all stats, scratch the surface and there ain't much there.

Don't bring half ****d stats to the table.. My last word on the Eustace debate, I am bored silly by the whole thin

I have often thought he was under rated by some supporters, which I understand, due to his age and fitness levels etc. Personally I liked him in the team. Wasn't aware the stats were so indicative of his influence. Still, if he's not fit he cant play :/

Come on chaps, the statistics prove 2 things:

    1. We are better with a defensive midfielder in the team (currently we don't have one, would our form have taken such a dip with Masc still fit?)

    2. That we can't rely on an over the hill player who won't be fit for half the season. We haven't been able to count on him at all. Young Thorne is an unpredictable injury, but you can't expect someone of Eustace's age to be fit for a full season, or even half of it in this case.

I'd love him to be back, but please don't make out that he is some zen master, he's just a cover player who currently isn't fit enough to cover.

    re: Loss of Eustace

This is a specious debate that rather misses the point. Our number 1 system relies on a string CDM. Add the stats when Estate and Thorne started in the position and I'll bet they look evenice better.

Compare them to when Mascarell (not a natural CDM but rather a bodge) or other stand in CDMs started and the gulf will be more evident still.

Point is our style of play demands a real defensive minded player in this slot just as it demand a hold up striker such as Chris Martin.

It's not the player in the position that makes the difference - it's the style of player. if you have the player that can do the role it will work whoever it is, even Eustace.

You can't give him credit for the results alone, it's simply that his style of play suits our most successful formation. So when we are missing him and Thorne we suffer; when we are also missing the other key positional component in Martin we then struggle. As has been seen in the run of games until our recent 4 match unbeaten streak
