    in these troubled times it's important that we keep the cultural identity of these sceptered isles alive...never forgot your scottish, english, irish, welsh, british identity or way of life.

    He was Turkish Flower, and he murdered a defenceless dragon in Beirut.

    he was greek (i think) and it was a bloody big dragon he had it with.

    St George was born in Lydda, Syria Palaestina, was a soldier in the Roman army and was later venerated as a Christian martyr. His father was Gerontius, a Greek Christian from Cappadocia, and an official in the Roman army; his mother Polychronia was a Christian from Lydda. Saint George became an officer in the Roman army in the Guard of the Emperor Diocletian, who ordered his death for failing to repudiate his Christian faith. He is supposed to have killed a sea creature off the coast of Beirut.

    The Nigels while on crusade heard the story and brought it back with them.

    Good point though - was the very low key celebration of St George a result of the billy bwitons not wanting to accentuate the difference between the nations that comprise the UK.

    At least the Scots and Irish patron saints flags got a look in for the Union Flag - the poor Welsh didnae
