    Tranmere

Days gone by would have seen Everton and Liverpool help out there little nieghbours by sending over a few good loanees, however today they are only interested in there own self serving greed along with many other Premiership clubs, that's why the likes of Port Vale are worried with near neighbours Stoke taking the fans away. Was it None League Norton United had to wind up a few weeks ago as they were 20,000 in debt! That's 2 hours wages for some players could Stoke City not help them! This is bread and butter football going to the wall and its over Greed by the Premiership, many more clubs close to BIG clubs will feel the wind blowing with little help or money being filtered down to lower leagues

For once I agree with Itwasin's negativity. Didn't know about Nortons demise.

Just one more point about Tranmeres relegation. We are now the ONLY FL team in the Palatine county of Cheshire. It was only a few years ago that there were four, and most of those were in in 2nd tier.

    Quite agree!
But doesn't this post just say it all - Crewe get a massive result - and all you can talk about is bloody Tranmere!!

You make a good point,'itwasin' that coupled with your unique command of written English drew me to this post !

Tranmere have actually used over 50 players this season and in addition to signing many players on short contracts ,they have also had 15 emergency loans.

I would suggest that gave them every opportunity to sign enough loan players to avoid relegation, they grasped the opportunity but simply didn't recruit very well !

As for players from Merseyside, they do have George Green, currently on loan from Everton !

Feel for Tranmere. Really do. On the whole their fans are decent, they haven't been drawn to the glamour of Liverpool and Everton like many in Birkenhead have. Another decent sized team in non league. it's why staying in div 3 is so important - a bad season in div 4 and your into the nether regions of the football pyramid - just look at Stockport .
I know this season has been abject at times but those over at Prenton Park would give their right arm to be in our position.

We worry about our club (quite rightly)

...but its worth remembering the roll call when we joined the second flight in 1997

    Tranmere, Grimsby, Stockport !!!

May our board get some things right???

There but for the grace of God could have gone we.

In the last game of the 2013-2014 season, Pennington (who played against us the other day, and of course scored the winner in that grim game at Prenton Park) had Tranmere ahead after 7 minutes, and for three minutes we were relegated. Fortunately, Duggy soon calmed our nerves, Junior Brown (did he have some Alex connection?) then got himself sent off after half an hour, and the rest is history.

But it could have been Crewe: successive relegations are all too common these days, with Wolves (in the capable hands of Dean Saunders for a while), Yeovil, even Blades, I think, having suffered them recently.

Norton United had no debts - it was a dispute over their ground which is owned by The Coal Miners Welfare Society (or something like that).
