    Daily Record sports hotline analysed

A wee look at the phoneline from yesterday in “Scotland’s national newspaper”……

THE SFA got a pat on the back for reducing the ticket prices for the Scottish Cup Final – but the knife is never far away when it comes to Hotline punters.
Slashing the costs for Falkirk and Inverness fans is all very well, but the move had Old Firm fans wondering about them.

Fans of the former old firm clearly just cannot let the two of them get on with it

[i]Lawrie McCall, Dennistoun, said: “ I’d like to applaud the SFA for reducing the ticket prices. I appreciate the merits of both clubs reaching the final but I fear Hampden will resemble a cemetery with lights. In the absence of the Old Firm it’s difficult to sell the product, hence the decision to cut the prices.
“There’s a question of fairness as Celtic in particular, have been subsidising other clubs in recent year, with residual payments for Champions League involvement and so on. “It's the provincial clubs’ tail wagging the Old F

The only thing that makes the Radio Clyde phone-in sound intelligent.

In fact some of these callers are probably the regular Celtic and Sevco fans on here.

The ******'s Hotline always gives prominence to the extreme, agenda-driven types such as those anti-SFA Old Farm conspiracy nuts, Scotland-bashers and patronising, arrogant Old Farm fans sneering at other Scottish clubs. And sometimes, just outright nonsense.

After the ICT semi-final one green zoomer claimed that "Celtic play against 12 men every week" and this claim got no comment from the Hotline host.

Usually they put the extreme comments at the top, reasonable comments near the bottom or print them the next day (often followed up by another set of zoomer comments the day after, partly in response, then that's it).

Alan and Lawrie cheerleading for the version of football finances that has only been in place since the 90s, all rigged in favour of the big clubs, yet making it seem THAT is the way its supposed to be.

Celtic subsidise nothing. They benefit from a system that favour big rich clubs and makes them richer. They have the league title and and Champions League football handed to them on a plate every year or at worst have to share it with one other club.

As for Lawrie's "the home team should keep all the money" - why? It wasn't like that until greed and elitism took over in the 90s and guess who benefited from that?

Arrogant ****s. Mouthpieces for the Record's own views, seeing as this and the anti-SFA, anti-Scotland bilge is printed on a regular basis.

The Record has outdone itself here though, usually they wait until some story or 'incident' to promote their - oops, sorry, the callers - views but here they're trying to hijack a good story about ticket prices and also hijack a cup fin

What about the other one with no phone-in, you know, the Celtic fanzine with endless Peter Lawwell exclusives which regularly prattles on about Celtic "going to war with the SFA" etc...
