I have followed this great club for 55 years and the shambles just experienced is the latest chapter of grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory.
Internal politics, awful governance, dreadful managers...oh I could go on.
I actually thought that with the current owners and management that things were being steered in the right direction but clearly something has happened to destabilise things. You just don't go from being by far the best team in the division to the worst in 8 weeks.
The next week or two will be defining for the future.
I just cannot see McClaren remaining in charge so if there is to be change let it be soon.
New management will need new players so time is needed to recruit.
You cannot start soon enough.
Will there be surprises ?
I think that there will be so what will these surprises be...return to local owners ? High profile manager?
Over to you folks.

Mel Morris!
I was thinking the very same. Back pocket money for Mel.Originally Posted by Rattea

Owning a football club is an easy way to make a small fortune...
Out of a big one!
Anyone would need to be able to pour £6 or £7 million away every year and not blink and be prepared to get slagged off for your efforts - cannot see it happening.
I have no information but I can see Mel Morrs assuming control.
I wondered when he joined the board why he was there.
As I say I think that there will be some surprising developments very soon.
I think that a very high profile manager will come in when, not if, McClaren departs.
Very difficult to spend what you want and comply with the rules of financial fair play, which Derby have always said they are committed to. Perhaps Mel Morris could develop an addictive Derby County game for phones that gives Derby a big income in return for some naming right. Then when people play repeatedly the game Derbys income rapidly increases and we spend more money, whilst complying with FFP.
The £7 million is just about allowable under FFP rules - we'd ahve to sell a player or two in order to raise serious cash fro rebuilding.
But anyone who can write off £7 million a year has to be seriously rich.
