I cannot see it working if McLaren stays on.The relationship between him and the fans is badly fractured in my opinion. The coaching performance at Derby in the last few months has been utterly hapless.I cannot see any prospect of improvement going forward.Mclaren has seemed very stressed to me despite the outward philosophical calm.I would be happy with Rowett who has galvanised a poor relegation-threatened team and kept them motivated all season.Warburton would be a really exciting possibility also, although perhaps he would prefer to stay around London.

Here we go, the reinvent the wheelers are out in force..
SM may well still go to Newcastle or somewhere else. As a club we can't do too much about that.
We don't know 100% what is going on behind closed doors.. Rumour, gossip and lies are the result of that. If there is any truth, Rush will act.
Has SM lost the fans? I would still say no at this stage.. Yes some are angry, me included but what I DONT want is knee jerk reactions and the club going back to square one and starting again... If we change managers then we have to go for someone who continues what NC and SM have started.
If he has lost the changing room, Rush will know this and act.
It's strange that probably the two most vocal opponents of the Clough regime were myself and Swaledale.. Both of us are still behind the manager atm..
I actually trust Rush to do the right thing, he has proved in the past he can make the tough decisions..
He will this time if he has to.

I really don't think he can or will carry on. I think he was a different character the Derby fans would be prepared to accept another attempt at promotion but unfortunately he is an excellent manager when things are going to plan but lacks the skill-set to turn things round when Plan A is not working - this has been evidenced over the last couple of months where serial over-complication of tactics and personnel have made the task impossible.
I have enjoyed the last two years but this has given me the taste for success and I don't think McLaren is capable of riding the ups and downs of a Championship season - it needs a more resilient and adaptable coach.
Gary Rowett is the ideal candidate for me - I am not a hire and fire em fan but I think Rowett is 'heaven-sent'
I'm with you on this point. He is a shrewd operator is Sam.Originally Posted by AngryRam

If mclaren does go, I don't want another ex derby player in as manager unless it's from the existing team - so no to rowett but I'd seriously consider bringing in Warburton. He got Brentford playing in a similar passing style but every time I saw them play they played less tippy tappy and more up tempo.
Wouldn't cost a penny in comp but we'd get comp from Newcastle, so more to spend on player's.
Would Rowett come though? Would be an excellent requisition!Originally Posted by stamfordram
How about Ben Robinson Burton Albions' Chairman as CEO? He certainly knows how to pick a good manager. Look at his record over the last 15 years. Keeps the bank balance good too.
