He will be souper.
Hope he doesn't make a right old meal of it
Or he will get his just desserts.
I like this guy. He is straight talking and will let the players know where they stand and will do everything to help them improve their individual skills and their teamwork.
The positive thing for me this week is that so many have been released - almost exactly the same number as I predicted two months ago. This doesn't mean they will necessarily go elsewhere as one, maybe even two, could be re-engaged later on towards the start of the season; but somehow with this Manager I doubt it. We will see his stamp on new recruits from the word go - and they won't all be from soft southern teams.
Most of you will have spotted that the four teams relegated from Divn 1 and whom we will play this coming season are all southern teams, as are the team coming up from the Conference. This is good from our point of view as regards travel to their grounds for away matches as these will not be so expensive as, say, Hartlepool or Carlisle, but it does mean we will have to improve our away form and keep
Good posr Mike, but do you seriously think some could be re engaged...what would be the purpose of this?.Reduced wages perhaps?
I would still like to now how he came to choose the 9 players he released, cos he obviously never saw them play.
If he wants to build his own team without breaking the bank, then he needs to create vacancies.
He probably already had a dossier on which players contracts were coming to an end, at each club, and which ones of those he fancied for his own team, if they came available at the right salary. And he'll know the players' current salaries and the Club budget for transfers and future wages. It's not much of a stretch to go from there to a very short "retained" list at an under-achieving club.
