    Premier League Champions? Not In My Lifetime!

    [color=navy]

    Do any of you here believe the mighty blues (no, not Chelsea) will win the Premier League in your lifetime?

    I seriously don't see it happening for me. Hopefully I will get to witness us winning another trophy somewhere along the line. But the Premier League? Nah, don't see it happening :/

    Nope. Too much competition and cash in the upper third of the table/teams who regularly finish high and gain honours themselves. There's nothing wrong with wanting the best for your team but we have to be realistic. Unless we gain mass investment and hang onto a team who are as organised and individually brilliant/able to play within a team unit carbon cut from the 80's we won't get near a league title again IMO.

    Then again, we'll probably win it before the 5hite do...

    Just glad I have the experience and memories of having witnessed us win two titles in the 80's. Even if we were to win the Premier League, I doubt it would feel as special for me as winning the 1st Division did back then.

    Same. How do you think that team would do now? Granted they couldn't go out on the lash the night before the big games or put a third of the tackles they did in but I reckon they'd still batter anyone going now for teamwork and overall desire to win.

    If you could maintain that work ethic and their mentality for winning, I believe we'd give anyone one a run for their money in todays' game. The way we were set up, and the skill and determination on display, were unbelievable.

    After the 85 ECWC Final, Hans Krankl said:

    "Everton were just too good for us. It's been a long time since we played against anyone of their class. They are possibly the best side in the whole of Europe."

    Mind you, we then went on to get beat by Man Utd in the FA Cup Final... bloody Kendall and his bunch of pissheads

    Here's one for you. If you could take just one player from that team, and put him in todays team, who would you choose?

    As mad as it sounds, I think I'd go for Neville Southall.
