think thats how you spell it.
some achievement on reaching a euro final.
but had a look at results in the group stages which surprised me.
they didnt score in thier first 3 games.
after 3 games they had 1 point.
lost 4rth game, still have 1 point.
lost to qarabag from gods knows where twice.
then beat st etiene and inter to finish group on 7 points and negative goal difference.
since then they played 8 won 4 drew 3 lost 1 knocking out olympiakos, club brugge, ajax and napoli.
so far in 18 games they have won 8 drawn 6 and lost 4.
scored 17 conceded 11.
it so p1sses me off is that this team plus others are teams that celtic would likely beat to the cl group stages or qualifiers yet celtic dont get anywhere near a euro final these days.
we finished ahead of benfica in the group stages of the cl in 2012-2013, as we did in 2006-2007 and 2007-2008. we qualified for last 16 cl in each occasion while benfica got papped out each time, yet they reached the europa final last season.

youve missed my point bluek.
i never said celtic should be in a euro final this season, we havent been good enough.
my point is that in the last decade weve still had some relative success in the cl reaching the last 16 on 3 occasions, weve beat teams and had results that should prepare us better for europa league football which we have genenrally flopped at.
in short, celtic should be achieving more than dnipro dnipropetrovsk.
Any team that Darren Mackie can score the wining goal against can't be that great.
(so that's Dnipro and Celtic)
its worse than i thought.
a bunch of *********gers can beat them.
TBH Celtic played for too long on a wave of emotion and self belief. Their big night home crowds generated such an atmosphere they got a few good results which boosted their belief even further
Problem is they didn't have a lot else in their locker. Their away record during that period tells its own story.
Now they're just another mid-range club the big clubs don't fear them any more. See how easily they have been dismantled by some of the even half decent teams recently. The worst Milan team in decades is a case in point. And don't even mention Maribor.
And not getting a decent domestic game for weeks on end isn't helping them either.
Oh BTW, Rangers have been cr@p in Europe most of the time as well be we don't go about with deusions of grandure.

celtic have had the advantage of having a superb atmosphere in thier home games many times and this has been some contribution to thier better european results especially in the champions league, but generally we have played well at home in these games and much better than these clubs who go so much further in the europa than us.
our away results have for as long as i can remember been generally very poor even against average sides.
but dont think anyone regarding celtic in europe has delusions of granduer, we just want to move onto the next level on a more consistent basis which we feel is where we should be.
and seeing teams like dnipro reach a euro final when celtic would probably finish above them even now if we ever met in a champions league group is frustrating.
