    renewed optimism

with Paul clement taking over I find myself with new but not blind optimism for new season. there would know doubt promises made when agreeing his salary . i.e. a transfer budget and guarantees of keeping hold of valuable assets. and having been based in Spain will have seen first hand up and coming talent there. one another thing it will be nice to move on from banter jibes from others about wally and all that and the will he go wont he saga. im sure a bad result will stir a few of our posters up but that's human nature

Having contacts in Spain wont help us... They tend to produce footballers who play with the ball on the floor.
Some on here prefer your more traditional English player who clogs and hoofs..
We will hear endless bleating that so and so is not strong enough... Blah, blah, blah.

Im looking forward to next season...

I think to have renewed optimism in a manager with little knowledge or experience as one and limited to the English game. Couple this with not having recently worked with quite basic players compared to the world class ones and being able to cope with that in a competitive league like the Championship is more along the lines of Blind Faith ...

You hope it could go right but the balance of probability as swale would like to put it down to is that it could go horrifically and expensively ... wrong!

Blimey! Give the bloke a chance to start the job 1st.

Don't see why everyone is so optimistic. Where precisely is the evidence of what Clement can do?
The hype seems to be cos he is from Real Madrid.
Clearly hope I'm proved wrong but it will be the first time he has been in total charge as manager and his playing experience is also limited. Its not a case of giving the bloke a chance if this is a mistake the effect on club and supporters could be severe, particularly as the expectations ( from both fans and owners) are so high.

It's certainly a risk but one that could pay dividends. I think one of Clement's most important signings will be his assistant. Absolutely ***** he gets someone with a wealth of playing experience. Intrigued to see who this will be.

It's a massive risk for sure but why not... What are the alternatives? Same old journeyman managers who do the rounds.. Nah not for me.
At least we are trying to do something different. Who would have been your preference for manager?

Everyone keeps saying manager, when in fact I thought his position was to be "Head Coach".
We don't need a manager with Sam Rush around, we need a coach to get the best out of players we have & will sign.
