    You couldn't make it up.

So McClaren potentially gets a pay off from the Rams and Newcastle don't get to pay compensation.
I calculate that is potentially a negative £4m variance or over 60% of our gate receipts for the coming season. - view external link

    Except that have!

Virtually all compensation agreements have a clause which in the case of the manager getting another job, payments are stopped. So any payment will be nowhere near the £2 million supposedly due to McClaren.

Sure we might have lost a compensation payment from newcastle, but then the board wanted shot of him now so preparations for next season can begin.

Well you'd be wrong there for a start on both sides of the fence! Plus your confusing everyday business with what happens with managers and indeed other very highly paid staff - all sorts of clauses are put in and one very common clause for football managers is the compensation stops (its not paid in a lump sum, but in installments) if they get another job.

But if you don't think thats the case fair enough I happen to know different.

I wouldn't worry about wages, compensation and the like, Rush and Morris know what they are doing.

We are about to announce a wonderful coach appointment, potentially the most gifted coach to ever grace the Ipro and Moor Farm.

Not only that we are about to sign bent and Pearce, and if what I've been told is correct, Tom Ince has signed for the rams (please let it be true). That information is supposedly come from someone from the club who's rhymes with hairy bush.

    McClaren's compensation wasn't 7 figures never mind 2 million!

And as previously stated, payment stops (not a lump sum) if he gets a new job.

Neither Rush or the new chairman strike me as people who would throw money around they didn't have to and I'm sure they have a savvy set of lawyers to draw up these agreements.

Yeah fanastic when 'potentially' you have a pay day but you decide to throw money at it to go away instead!!!

I think you'll find if this does happen that McClaren 'appears' to have out manouvered Rush and co. I'm sure Newcastle will be more than happy to have the man they wanted and not fork out any compensation. I think you'll find thats great business on Newcastles part.

"I got this old car and didnt want it and I knew if I played it right this old bloke would pay over the odds for it. But I couldnt wait so I paided someone to take it away and the bloke who was going to pay over the odds got it for nothing!"

    Onwards and upwards!
