    Predictocomp

    Griff,

I was wondering if you could put the first week's predictocomp up, now that the fixtures are out?

I'm at a bit of a loose end so I'd like to have a bit of time to paw over them.

    Ta.

P.S. Can I suggest that people who don't, or forget, to enter are awarded the same points as the lowest scorer for that week. Keeps them. interested.

    That's nonsense.

If Griff can be bothered to run the competition every week, and you want to enter, you should,be bothered to enter.

I'd be in favour of actually giving people who don't submit predictions a penalty of -3 points, then you're less likely to forget.

If I make the effort to enter and get the lowest score - why should you be rewarded with the same points for doing f_ck all?

Piggy: It's easy to tell when your dole money is running low and you resort to straining household products - like Sterno - through day old bread for your drink.

You may think we cannot tell when you are doing this. Let me assure you, we can tell.

Aussie only asked a reasonable question and you erupted all over him.

    Get some help.

Too bad the MB Temperance League was broken up with the MB's failure and the resulting great flight from here.

I have since lost my connections there that I would have recommended to you.

Maybe Footymad has some treatment linkages. Ask Griff.

I agree totally with Piglet , stop being a lazy **** Aussiebranch and submit your picks like the rest of us . Could this be due to the fact that you will be in South America during part of the season and refuse to pay for internet access ? It's not Aussie Rules where you get a point if you miss the goal . Shanful mate .

Wow, you two really don't back yourselves to tip well. I suppose that's understandable...

I believe one of the reasons Griff runs the predictocomp is because it's fun, gets a few people involved and hopefully gets a few people back posting on here.

If you were to give people -3 pts for not entering, which is laughable by the way, then say if someone starts picking a month into the competition, you'd have them starting on -12 pts. Hardly an incentive for newbies to get involved, is it?

Under my system, if you entered the comp a month in you'd start with the same points as last place, hardly a huge advantage but potentially you could soon be above the poorer tippers.

Again, I can understand why you'd feel threatened by this.

It's ironic that you're opposing this change but are notorious for:

    a) forgetting to enter (then complaining for the next eight and a half months that you've been wronged).

b.) Making a half arsed effort when doing your picks by saying the likes of "I'll have

From the man who tipped Russia last week , comedy gold
May the best man win , irrespective of your need to change the rules .

    re: Predictocomp

I'll try and get the first week's competition up a fortnight before the start of the season to give folk a bit of notice. Any earlier it could get forgotten. In fact maybe a bit earlier, because some folk go away for a fortnight, don't they. It's true, I do this because it's a bit of fun and can be a laugh, but I won't be awarding unearned points or penalties, that would be unfair to the others in my eyes. The simple fact is that we're all between rubbish and average at predicting scores and results, so anyone who joins in late, if he or she is any good (or, indeed, average) can catch up quite quickly. And even if someone joins in VERY late, they can aspire to not finishing bottom.

    Awreet?

    re: Predictocomp

There's at least one on here who is superstitious about predicting Carlisle's results which is why I stopped including them. I'll happily include more of them if he'll give the ok. Otherwise most weeks I tend to choose teams that are close together in the table or who are local to each other. Not always possible but that's how I choose them. Any other ideas?

In the correct score prediction i think you should get 1 point for getting the result right and 2 bonus points for getting the score right.
