As Bridcutt is another likely signing I have heard mixed reviews on his ability. The Sunderland fans seem to think he is a waste of space, but the Brighton fans rate him highly.
As a glass half full guy I will go with the Brighton assessment of him. - view external link

Not really taken any notice of him, but guy at work is a Sunderland ST holder, and described him as "pitiful".Originally Posted by triz
I have been doing some research on him & it appears that he has the necessary skills & just needs the right motivation. I understand that Paul Clement worked with him in the past, and also that Clement is skilled in the psychological part of the game.
I will therefore reserve judgement... He could be a diamond in the rough, and is only 26.
bridcutt is an effective player rather than someone blessed with talent. a defensive midfield player than gets stuck in, dictates play and allows the more creative players to do what they do best.
a good comparison would probably be grant leadbitter
I remember thinking a few years ago he was one of the best midfielders in the league at brighton.
the problem is that he's a bit like chris martin - excellent in the championship but would (and has in this case) fall short in the premier league.
we're not in the prem so a very good championship player would be very welcome imo.
the only issue I see is where he would play. he's a very specialist DMF from what I've seen. if George thorne is fit then he'd be the number 1 guy.
if we did sign bridcutt could this be evidence we're looking to play 4-2-3-1 with 2 DMF's? especially with baird seemingly as back up?
