Message from Footy Mad regarding the upgrade.

Thought you might be interested in reading this message I received this morning.

Thanks for the feedback, we are aware of the issues and are addressing each one in turn and have been since 0600 this morning. We have also received a significant number of positive responses, particularly around the mobile experience.

The changes made have been forced upon us, but will ultimately result in quicker more secure forums. Hopefully a small amount of initial pain will be worth it. The nature of the network does not give us the luxury of full offline testing. It was also decided to focus on functionality before look and feel. Hence the slightly retro look of the boards.

Please bear with us for the next couple of days as we address the snag list.

If there is anything in particular that you think should be addressed first, please let us know and I will give it a high priority.

If they want feedback tell them to read the thread on here.! If by focusing on functionality they mean removing it, they have succeeded. Look is unimportant to me, making it work as well as it used to is way more important

I have already told them to read the feedback on here and other busy FM sites. I think they are now fully aware of the negative feelings of almost every poster on these forums.

I'm sorry, but that is a pathetic response from FM - the odd bug may be considered 'normal' for a new release - but this update has more bugs than features - I wonder how happy the advertisers will feel when user numbers drop off because of this?

I've been with it for 5 half years. Go on it everyday work abroad wherever I am I go on it to find out the latest rams news. But sadly I think it's had its day.

They say give them a few days to sort out all the problems, so I will before giving a final verdict on the site, but at the moment it does not look good.

In terms of phone/tablet viewing, this change has been great. Desktop is having a couple of teething issues but nothing compared to the last update a year or two ago, which saw the site not work at all for days. I'm happy to wait for the teething problems to be sorted as I think the change is a step in the right direction long term.

and i love the new "reply" feature, which makes replying a hell of a lot quicker as you don't have to move page from the thread. Also very useful for quoting others. I think this will boost the amount of posters!

On multiple page threads whats the point of it opening on page 1 all the time instead of the most recent, bit of a pain having to jump to the most recent page, surely it should be the other way round?

New posts aren't showing date and time they were posted so you never know if a thread has had a reply since the last time you visited it
