Darren Bent

Last season, I cannot say I was particularly impressed with Darren Bent.
Goals yes and ultimately, you don't win games without them. However, the way we attacked last season, if we'd played Stephen Hawking upfront, he would probably have got double figures. However most of Bent's were tap ins or penalties. Not many were his trademark turns / burst through efforts. Now the penalties are hit and miss, he looks decidedly ordinary.
Please Darren prove me wrong!!!!

I agree. Runs into dead ends, average on the ball and looks half bothered no matter what the situation is.

One dimensional player. To be successful in this division you need more. Martin has the extra but villa fans warned bent will score but nothing else.

Wheel him on for the last ten mins to bounce one in off his ********* from 2 yards. That's all he can do really. He's one of a dying breed of poachers. It's like playing with 10 men. I don't think we'll see him starting for a while after last night.

I got slated on here when we signed him for saying we would rue the day he signed.Swaledale even assured us he would get 20 goals. I don't think PC has any imput in his signing its just a Sam and Mel signing Remember him against Reading the most important game of the season he was pathetic.Last night he played against inexperienced kids and never even caused them a problem. Hes only here for easy money he was a decent player but that was 6 years ago As for Weiman not really fair to play a right footed striker wide left is it

It's a common tactic. Inside/Out forward. We've been playing it for nearly three seasons, or hadn't you noticed!

Bent's a journeyman yes, but he still could be a valuable squad member.

Well it's too early of course so I could be talking rubbish but Weimann doesn't seem to fit any of the positions available. He's not really a wide man on the evidence I've seen here and at Villa. Nor is he someone who can play alongside Martin or Bent. I just can't see what his role will be and, on last night's evidence, neither can he.
