The first couple of results this season have not been great and time will tell how good ann appointment Clement is.
I wonder, if this forum had been around , what the reaction to Brian Cloughs first season in charge would have been.
I remember it well. Defeat followed defeat particularly at home and the first couple of games the following season were not great either.
We all know how it panned out.
It isn't a surprise to me that the first results have not been great but with at least half a team being new recruits time is needed for the team to gel.
One concern for me is Clement talking about trying different formations strikes me as confusing to say the least.
Get a team that gels with a strong spine and play with pace and passion and let opposition managers concern themselves about formations and tactics.
Brian Clough got it right and so will Clement given time.

Not sure what the best team actually is but let's get a winning formula and stick to it with just a bit of tinkering where necessary. Hughes loss is the biggest blow but the world doesn't revolve around one person.
Difference today is money and the abundance of fickle fans! Ever Ferguson took a few years. Mel said we need to build and may take a few years yet we have this hoard that want it yesterday.
Changing days and sad![]()
I reckon fans have always been the same. Fickle as *********. Human nature doesn't change over night. It was the same in Sub-Saharan East Africa thirty million years ago. They were playing 433 too.
You should change your to Wristtaper.909 now!.. I agree, as Lance Corporal Jones would have it "don't panic". Hard to imagine a worse start - 2 key players out for a long spell, 2 shots on target in 2 game and but for a crossbar 2 defeats to what we would hope to consider weaker opposition. Sterile play is the most worrying to me but the season is less than a week old: give it a chance FFS.
Let's take some positives - our goals to shots on target ratio of 50% is good. We now know our best GK. Shackell looks to have settled quickly. Sse********* looks a good prospect. Thorne looks to be back at best. Noone got injured last night. We weren't going to win that cup anyway. We're still unbeaten in league unlike some neighbours. DK goes back to school soon!
