a change of tactics for saturday

    im going for 3 1 3 1 2 diamond version aka 3 5 2 attacking with 5 3 2 defending
    edited thanks for post millerstale
    collin GK

    rawson collins/halford/woods thorpe CB

    smallwoodif fit /halford holding midfielder

buxton right wingback newell CM mattock/white left wing back

maguire/g ward sitting behind the front two

    derbyshire/maguire jch

subs roo bowery green ledesma woods

some people wont agree but it would be something for the opponents to think about and give them pause for thought with buxton and white bombing down the wings their defence would have to pick up 3 strikers

also if smallwood is injured lets see what halford can do as holding midfielder which i think was the position he played in for forest best place for a captain

when we lose the ball it would become 5 3 2 with buxton and white dropping back

A significant number of the goals we've conceded have come from the opposition getting a yard on the full back and putting the ball across the box. Giving the wide players additional attacking responsibilities, which is what comes from playing wing-backs, is surely asking for more of what we're least good at coping with?

I dont think we'll be too exposed playing with full backs because while ever Buxton and White get forward or whoever playing wing backs, Smallwood can drop back and becomes a 4 man defence until our wing backs track back, i really do think it's worth trying cos Buxton and White like to get forward, it could really work.

Is Smallwood fit enough to play? Didn't look good when he had to be substituted in QPR game.

Let's just ignore the fact that we have seen some real progress in team performances in the last couple of matches and bin all that by trying a different team and formation.

People criticise SE for not knowing his best 11 or what formation to play and say he is totally out of his depth and then suggest he spins the wheel and comes up with a totally new team and formation and cross his fingers that it works.

I'll leave the team selection and tactics to SE he's not done that bad at it over the last 3 years, but will say this for god sake no 4 5 1 if we are to stay in this league we have got to beat the teams who are down at the bottom with us.
