Bit of a pointless statement from Evans.

Everyone, including him, knows that if we are running along at the same rate as we are now, he'll be gone by Christmas (probably significantly before that).

I'm sure Tony Stewart will back him and relegation wouldn't in itself be a deciding factor but turning into this season's Blackpool, with the amount of players we're bringing in, won't be acceptable (whereas I don't think his job was remotely under threat if we'd lost the last few games and got relegated).

It's entirely unsustainable to be playing awful football, conceding goals for fun and being completely impotent going forward.

He knows that, Tony Stewart knows that, the fans know that.

I hope this is true whatever happens this season, not many managers would keep us up in the championship with the budget we're working with and Steve Evans motivational skills are excellent which always gives us that bit of hope, even if we're relegated id still keep Evans because he knows how to get promoted in league 1, he also seems to deliver in huge pressure matches aswel, which is another reason id keep him on.

I think, as I've said before, his future should depend on how we see ourselves as a club.

If we're content to live an eternal "NOW!" state, where it's all about getting up/staying up this season and then seeing where we are in the summer, then Evans' record is second to none. He might not have the budget, but given the latitude to hire and fire at will, he's shown he can make us competitive. If the wheels aren't capable of being put back on this season, he's likely to be able to build a new team again in the summer and, with a relatively competitive budget, have us competing at the top of League 1.

If we want to build something that's more long term, like Swansea and Bournemouth, then we need a new manager, or we need Evans to adapt to a very different working style. Maybe if the Guest and Chrimes development happens and we start to see different income streams, independent of league status, coming into play, we might change tack.

That said, play like we have in the two home

This summer I kept stumm and waited until SE had assembled his 4th squad in 4 years. Once he'd done that I cleared my throat and gave voice to the following: he'll be gone by November 5.

However, if he wants to stay here for years and years...there's always a demand for programme sellers.

His one ray of hope? That the two new foreign midfielders exceed all of SE's expectations.
