FRUSTRATED Wanderers boss Neil Lennon admits he has had considerable problems attracting the right striker to the Macron Stadium.
The Whites chief is still waiting on an answer from Charlton Athletic’s Igor Vetokele, and hopes to have the Angola international’s loan wrapped up in time for tomorrow’s home game against Championship leaders Brighton.
Other irons are also in the fire, but the task of finding someone to solve his side’s problems in front of goal has not been an easy one – with Lennon limited both by finance and a lack of talent willing to swap top flight security for regular football in the second tier.
Speaking to The Bolton News, the Northern Irishman summed up his aggravation at a striker chase that may yet prove fruitless.
“You keep persevering with it and just hope that something comes up,” he said. “You’ve got to have plan A to Z and probably more than that. It’s part of the process and there’s no guarantees you can get any player in.

says it all really campo when we cant even attract anyone from the non league or scotland but im not to concerned that lennons not managed to bring in a striker yet as it means he is trying his damdest to get us in a goalscorer that will make a difference to the non existant strikers we have but thes we have been linked with ie with a strike rate of one goal in 5 or 6 games isnt going to make any difference whatsoever in our fight to remain a championship club come the end of the season so whats the point in getting in another striker thats no better or worse than we already have, it seems lennon now as the finance to fund a loan signing but id rather he sat on it even till january if it means he gets the right player in, it would be a gamble waiting but whoever we bring in we are still going to be in another relegation scrap season after season given our dire financial situation its just a slow & very painful death so be it this season or next we are gonners in this division ive
I agree dunc lets just hope a miracle does happen,if it meant us getting relegated this season and getting rid of Davies and Gartside i'd take it there would be no money in league 1 for them but i bet they would still be asking the same price we are paying now for season tickets in league 1 but how many fans would pay it!
id happily see us in league 2 campo if it meant we got shut of these two clowns & we ended up with a clean slate & our football club back from the brink of disaster but its all down to how much eddie is prepared to write off & you would have to think it would have to be at least two thirds of the 170-180m he reckons hes owed to tempt any potential new owner, i read somwhere that eddie would be prepared to let the club go for around 40m but not sure how much of that is true or just pure speculation but heres hoping there could yet still be a bit of light at the end of our very long & dark tunnel but i wont hold my breath of an upturn in our fortunes anytime soon, jeysus theres nowt like a f uckin matchday to depress the f uck out of me self but im sure im not alone there
