For every successful player there's probably a 100 struggling to get by after they hang up their boots. At the end of the day only 11 and 3 subs can play in the Prem and if a lower league player is willing to or hoping to get that chance even if it involves bench sitting, then fair dos. At least they within a shout of realising a dream.
