Sam Rush said today that "Chris Evans will not be replaced and has thanked him for his time working for Derby County". Looks like Paul Clement will take a more advanced role in the decisions on who he wants to come in to the club.

It came as no surprise that Chris Evans has departed the scene. No signings of note made in the last 2 years that would not have been difficult to identify. So who follows into the job.
Derby have predominantly a British Isles based squad and when you see Premier league teams there are very few British born players.
I am not saying that is right but clearly clubs have global research and scouting and that's where I think Clement may come into his own as I am sure that he,from his previous clubs have great contacts at all points on the compass.
Foreign born players make up a big part of the English leagues and can't be ignored so let's wait with interest which direction the club now follows.
Maybe Mel Morris was right in saying a few weeks ago that we are at the start of a project which may take 5 years to come to fruition so Mr Clement get this decision right.
I am optimistic that we can finish in the top two this time around and premier league football would need 4 or 5 quality a

We shall see whether or not Evans is replaced....... my money would be on a replacement within a couple of weeks.......but maybe not with the same title..........we need to find another Carbonari ,Stimac or Asanovich..........
Were we to be promoted this season it would be too soon for any of the hoped for academy products and we would need to find 'cheap' foreign players , like many premiership teams have done. A scouting system would be needed ... Clement will be too busy to do the searching even if he is the one with the final say so.
Don't remember Clough, Cox and Smith ever being 'too busy' to do some 'searching'. How times change.
A good talent recruiter is not necessarily someone in a plush office with a files of data and statistics at his fingertips. It seems that football feels the need to implement recruitment processes used in the corporate world. There is always unearthed talent out there, in local parks, amateur & pro leagues here & other parts of the world. Just waiting to be found by a canny scout with a good eye for potential talent.
Peter Taylor springs to mind.... but not sure that he would be able to hack what happens in the game today. There is no question that to succeed we need a global reach. It would be great to be very successful at the highest level with just players from the British Isles but that won't happen. I have a feeling that in some way, shape or form Clement will instigate a player recruitment system which has a global reach.
We need to find a few more Carbonari's but no more Esteban Fuertes,,,,,,,
Although i am not a Clement fan, maybe this is what he needs to ferment himself without a board go between butting in. Hopefully making Clement able to pick and choose who he wants in the squad.
(Then when it goes t*ts up for him, i'll be there with the hangmans noose!!)
I don't know if I'm going to be a Clement fan yet.Originally Posted by Satanic Ram

Results have improved but performances have not. After initial bad luck with deflected goals and injuries, we've certainly used up our full quota of 2015 good luck.
I really hope he does well and starts to make other teams fear playing us. I think no one does at the moment.
