    A little note on Brighton

Okay so 12 games gone, they're unbeaten - won 8, drawn 4. They're 4 points clear at the top of the league.

Here's why I'm not worried. Their goal difference is +8. This means that every single one of those 8 wins they've had has been by 1 goal. Their last 2 wins have been from late goals and before that they'd drawn 3 in a row.

Last season people wrote Bournemouth off, but they were blowing teams away. I'm not writing Brighton off by any means but I think they'll have a spell or two where they end up on the wrong end of those tight games.

I'm sure Bournemouth had a pretty indifferent spell in January and February, even lost to Forest as I recall. It's just that we chose about the same time to go completely off the rails and whereas they finished really strongly, we never came close to recovering. Agree with tdr, Brighton will have a couple of dodgy spells but this time we have to be ready to take advantage, starting with a point or three tonight. Anyway, Champions would be excellent but 2nd will do me...same outcome.

Winning is a habit, don't write them off yet. If anything, 1 goal wins with last minute winners is a sign of a good side, reminds me of Sunderland pipping us in 2007.

Pretty sure everyone was saying the same thing about us a couple of years back but we just kept grinding out those wins. No reason why Brighton won't do the same as they have some good players.

Not forgetting that in Chris Hughton, they have an excellent coach/manager. He has proven in the past that he can get teams out of this league.

We need to keep in touch with them to start with and then hopefully reel them in

So somewhat similar to when we were promoted under Billy Davies then?

You don't need to win games by two or three goals, you just need to win.

Brighton have conceded 10 goals in 12 matches.

Our GD is +7. We've conceded 7 in 11 matches.

Brighton have scored two more goals than us.

Oh of course, I agree that the stats can tell you whatever you, I or anyone wants to hear.

And yes very similar to us under BD! I nearly mentioned that actually. But don't forget that year we were beaten into 3rd by 2 teams of better footballing quality if I recall correctly. Certainly Sunderland, and I can't remember quite how good Birmingham were? We did not run away with the league. The teams that do run away with the league usually have the abi

Hats off to the start they have made. I expect them to fall away and still think top 4 will be contested by us, Hull, Boro and Burnley. Take your pick in what order they will land by seasons end
