HMRC wins appeal against the dead club

A scheme involving payments to various trusts set up in respect of executives and footballers employed by the former Rangers Football Club amounted to “a mere redirection of emoluments or earnings” and was accordingly “subject to income tax”.

Judges in the Inner House of the Court of Session allowed an appeal by the Advocate General for Scotland, acting on behalf of Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC), against a decision of the Upper Tribunal in relation to tax assessments made on Murray Group Holdings and other members of the Murray Group of companies, including RFC 2012 PLC.

I trust action will be taken against the current entity masquerading as 'Rangers' - after all, we keep getting told they're the same club... don't we?

It's confirmation (if any were needed) that they cheated their way to all those titles & trophies. They should be kicked out of the game with immediate effect.

    Rangers - Aye Cheatin' .

When they thought they'd won the tax case = "We're still the same club."

Now they've lost the tax case = "That wis the auld club so it wis."

Looks like a bad day to be a Sevconian...

HMRC win appeal in tax case.

Accounts show a £7.5m loss and the new club need £2.5m to see out the season

Daily Record sez Ashley is going after King, and it looks like the Record seem to have had a dose of amnesia about King being the Saviour

Don't worry, sir walloper or his sidekick bluek will be along later to tell us all how obsessed we are for laughing at them

Getting past all the slagging of Rangers, this is an important legal issue that all clubs will have to take account of. I doubt very much if only one club has found ways to attract players to sign for them that did not seek ways of avoiding tax payments to eat into any remuneration agreed. I have heard of deals being done where the salary quoted is after tax (as in the players demands are £XXXk after tax) and I presume some clubs have swallowed the tax bill for these. However, some may have found a loophole to squeeze things past the tax authorities. HMRC may be big brother to some but they tend not to let things go when they smell a rat.

The buns are always quick to tell us how much they support the armed forces yet they have been robbing them of funding for years. Cheeky basturds
