I suspect this is partly because he couldn't sign for a league club until January

Why couldn't he sign for a league club now?...? No pen until after Christmas.

Because he's already signed for A number of clubs (some on loan) prior to having a trial with us and as such cannot sign for a league club until January. Clearly he wasn't going to be good enough at our level anyway
