    The Forgotten Man - Bryson

Gone over 18 months from THE player to the forgotten man almost. Looking at the team at the moment what does the future hold for him? Is there even a place for him any longer?

Seems the worst thing to happen signing that new contract.

Hes not forgotten at all in my mind although his role will clearly change with the competition for his place. Same applies to Will Hughes when he is back - may not walk straight into the starting line up. This is what happens with significant injuries to key players - replacements come in and its not always easy to reclaim your place. Its the way of the world and not just in football; get yourself good maternity cover and its never as easy when the mother comes back etc etc

Think we have quite a few forgotten men at the club now. Buxton, Pearce, Shotton, Dawkins and Roos are all in for a shout at that title.

I don't really see how he fits in now if I'm honest. Unless Clement is rotating Hendrick - Butterfield and Johnson - Bryson, then it seems he's a back up. The way I see it, if everyone was fully fit then he'd be right at the back of the queue, our fifth choice midfielder. Can't really make any excuses for him either, last season he certainly didn't set any games alight.

Moving on though, I'm all for strength in depth but there's got to be a balance for the wage bill. God knows how much Bryson is on but is there any point in keeping a player that's on £15k (I imagine at least), when he's going to be restricted to substitute appearances, cup games and mainly being a back up? If it was up to me, then if a club made an offer in January I'd take it. Bring in a young, cheap centre midfielder who can do the job if there was an injury crisis. Just my

Pearce has never really been prominent enough to become forgotten. Shotton IMO has never looked the part and I certainly don't hanker after the player he was as is with Bryson's case. Roos is a fair keeper but has one better and one far better ahead of him. Again injury has put Jake back in the pecking order and it is arguable that until that point he was our most consistenet and reliable defender. I'd say he was pretty inspirational around the club and if fit a better option than Pearce or Shotton. Dawkins it would appear has his mind elsewhere. Tell you what Ram Bam it's not often we've been able to say we've got a bit of 'surplus' lying around the place!

Wouldn't say he's forgotten, some think he's the best thing since sliced bread, IMO one of our most over-rated players in recent times along with Green, Hulse & Eustace (all other debates for another day).

He will have to prove himself as better than Hendrick & Butterfield who currently occupy his position in Clement's set up, as well as Hughes next season.

Doesn't it depend on which 'version' we get? Bryson from 2011-12, and the majority of the 2013-14 season, would still walk into this side as the sort of creative and goal scoring midfielder all sides need. Unfortunately the second season version, or the one - as Rats suggests - that we've had since he signed the contract that stopped him going to Burnley, hasn't been much use at all. Injury has played a large part in his 'decline' but I really hope he can rediscover some form and fitness, as, imo, a fit and confident Bryson could still have a very major part to play.

It was mentioned a while ago, but forgotten by many, that SMc used Bryson differntly in his second season and asked him to hold back a bit more, it didn't suit him as much.

The main issue for Bryson, as far as I can see, is that he needs to have a run of games to hit form. 5,6,7 games under his belt and he hits a level that is superb for the Championshipl. He hasn't had chance to 'rubber in' in the last 18 months due to injury and rotation. A match fit Bryson is still a starter for me. Talk of'losing it' after contract talk is harsh, he's never shirked ANYTHING for Derby. He's just had constant niggles since he signed it.

He has ran his *bleep* off consistently for the cause, and those who slam him need to watch some re-plays of play-off season games, and before, and give some love t our 2 time Player of the Season

Adi Salisbury IMO one of our most over-rated players Are you sure you've ever seen him play He did have an average season last season but that was only because of injuries Im sure he would walk into any Championship side Apart from Martin he is still the best finisher at the club Nobody could ever fault his work rate or his positional play he just needs to be fit Don't be surprised if he is not in the first team before Xmas

Yep. I don't doubt his work rate, or his ability to make a dangerous run. But that's it.

I doubt his skill and leadership. He looks good running around when the team are playing well, but when the team aren't, he just disappears. Compared to the players he is competing with, his running around a lot just isn't enough, and should we progress to play higher level opposition, will see him making little impact.

I agree that he will be in the 1st team at some point, as his energy / efforts will please a coach. I'd just rather see someone with more skill and impact in this position.

I'm aware that I'm in the minority with this opinion
