Thread: Peter Crouch anyone?

    Peter Crouch anyone?

My brother, a Stoke City Directors' Box regular, told me at the weekend that Peter Crouch is to leave for a Championship club in January for a nominal fee - just wondered if he might be on Derby's radar?

Apparently he's keen to move into coaching at the end of his career and work alongside someone who will help him on his way for the last 18 months of his playing career (not sure how old he is now?). I'm putting two and two together here but surely there would be no one better to learn from than PC?

I was quite excited at the notion of him coming to Derby - I think he would be perfect cover for Chris Martin and has that nouse to help us in the PL should we get up this season.

He's a big lad (obviously!) but I've always thought he was a very tidy player too. And his goals ration for England is amazing - 22 at better than one in 2 games. He'd be on big wages no doubt but I'd certainly take him if we could.

Not for me he's 35 in January. To old and past it!

I would give him a chance, what's to lose? No idea if it's a goer or not.

No. Have too many non-starters on huge wages as it is.

Bit too past it for me, and do we really need another striker?

Yes he does have a good record for England. However, at that age I would prefer a small tricky striker as it seems the taller players have less mobility toward the end of their career. No science to back this up, but I would rather have say a Jermaine Defoe in his mid 30's than a Peter Crouch.

If the wages aren't prohibitive I'd be in favour. As SFT says, excellent cover for Martin and, even for just half a season, that could be very useful indeed. People doubted that Kevin Phillips had anything to offer after he reached 35...used sparingly I think he had another five or six years of scoring crucial goals left. Hope for you yet OTR. ;-)

If its a nominal fee he wont be going to Forest then. Maybe we could swap him for Shotton
