when celtic nearly went bust in 1993-94

i canny recall anyone saying "dont worry if it happens your club will come back as a newco, ditch its debt, be bought over cheaply by someone with celticitis, and the sfa will offer the newco, but same club the chance to remain in the top tier via a vote, which could go either way".

and "youll keep your history and your trophies as well"

can anyone remember if the prospect of celtic going bust actually meant the club finishing, or did we worry all for nothing.

It was going to be the end. The bank were going to padlock the gates and that was it. All over.
H u n s got a get out of jail free card from their pals in the SFA boardroom. They are still a different entity - but their smelly fans are still the same so it makes no odds

Hey john, how about you post that on NK mad then come back here tomorrow with a screenshot showing you're not banned

tae answer reve's hypothetical, if Celtic went bust with wee Fergus waiting in the wings, the league and SFA at the time wouldn't have sent the newco to the bottom tier, just wouldn't have happened. These days, with forums and social media, our voices cannot be ignored. It was Aberdeen and United fans who shouted the loudest and forced a vote on Sevco, certainly wasn't the Celtic board.

thats what I really like about you reve, you have your own mind and don't blindly follow follow whatever the board says, like the buns do. since you love conspiracies as much as I do, how about a theory that in 2010/2011, the SPL changed their rules, separating club from company. In anticipation of Rangers going bust. The SFA rulebook makes no mention of companies, just clubs, since it pre-dates the incorporation of all our clubs by a good 20 years. Rangers finished 2nd in 2011/12, the SFA rulebook dictates that Rangers would enter the following years Scottish Cup at, i think, the 4th round. 'Rangers' did not enter the Scottish Cup in 2012/13 at that level, they entered at the same level as all other 4th-tier clubs. Weird, eh.

Unfortunately I would probably get carded on here for the language I use on the other board, so the screenshot thing isn't really going to happen. You are just going to have to take my word for it that there is no mechanism in place to ban anyone from saying the h u n s are a different club/company/organisation, or from calling them smelly vile tramps...

In all honestly, there is a different dynamic on the other board. I am not saying it is any better or worse than this one - it is just different.

1993-94? Is that when Celtic separated club and company? Pacific Shelf and all that?

Celtic have had a few corporates since 1888 (the year, incidentally, that it says on the register of companies we started trading)
You wil note it says beside the h u n s' that they started trading in 2012...

My bad - 1887 it says...

So the company that owns Rangers FC was founded on 16/11/2012. The club was already playing football in division 3 before that. Under another company presumably. Just like they had finished the previous season.
