    Alan shearer

At ewood on Monday for forest game. Hope he gets the excellent reception he deserves when he takes to the pitch. Need to bury some of the poor form too many rovers fans showed when he returned as a player with his home town club.

The man is a rovers legend.

I remember discussing this at the time of his first return with the Geordies. At the time, I was annoyed because I felt he should have expressed his wish to leave sooner. I seem to remember the new kit pictures coming out with himself and Sutty.
Apart from that I've never had a problem. Greatest Rovers striker I have seen [sorry Garno but you're close].

To be fair it was jack walker's continued efforts to keep him that was the only thing that stopped him announcing his desire to leave sooner. In the end the pull of the barcodes was just too great for him. I can't blame him at all for that, esp as the Geordie's were one of the most exciting sides in the country at the time.

I don't believe the rumour he'd have gone to united but for jack for one minute either.

fully agree with JR, AS should be applauded from every single corner of the ground (plus the middle bits ).
The man played every game for us at 100% (injuries permitting). In that, he also maybe shortened his career somewhat in spending as little time as necessary on the sick bed.
I was stunned that some fellow supporters could not get their head around him wanting to don Jackie Milburns shirt in front of the Gallowgate. This for his bow from the game, and while he still wanted and be able to do it justice.
First move (to us) came about because Man U dawdled. The second (from us) came about because the lure of his home town club was far too great and if he had spent a couple of seasons at OT, he probably would have been past any sort of best and that would be a sad way (for him) to duck out of the game.
The leaving of us was shadowed for all the obvious reasons in that no one likes to issue bad news just like that. Folk can either take that as insulting and simply disregard all

I absolutely despise the fact fans get angry at players or managers for lack of loyalty. Another big example being burnely and coyle.

This only happens when a person has been a great success, fans dont care about disloyalty from average or poor players.

I have changed jobs lots of times, its my right. I am happy the employers I left know I did a good job. Why cant sportsmen do the same?

Do we get angry when our clubs terminate contracts for players and managers early? No we dont :-)

The greatest player ever to wear the blue and white of Blackburn Rovers that Ive seen at Ewood in over 50 years of watching at least some of the matches season by season........says it all for me really.

Its no wonder the likes of Blake and ward were given such a rough ride by rovers fans, they never had a chance joining so soon in the wake of shearer leaving.
