    simeon jackson

Signs on a short term deal
got to admit I don't know too much about him but he played under Lambert at Norwich and did rather well under him
struggled since but with the lure of a contract at the end of it might kick start his career.
can he be any worse than what we have?
We have currently 4 strikers who cannot hit a barn door.

I have to admit I did have a chuckle when I read the signing, which turned into a full on laugh after reading his stats but...

Depends what you call rather well I suppose.
Averaging 1 goal every 4.2 games isn't really prolific is it? ( although it was championship/Prem level )
Its basically saying he will get you 10 goals a season, and that was him 4 seasons ago, compare it to the last 3 seasons and you get.
5 goals in 60 games which equates to 1 goal every 12 games, this playing at a lower level for the likes of Millwall, Coventry and Barnsley.

I wouldn't want him no where near my starting 11 and questions must be asked when was his last game and why no other club took a punt on this free.
Mind you if he scores the winner V Brighton, Hull, Ipswich, Boro and Derby he will be loved by us clarets as much as you lot.

Good God the hill monkeys are out in force today
it's a free transfer until the end of the season
if it works great give him a longer contract and lap up the praise for taking the risk
if it fails no big loss he leaves at the end of the season
before Rudy signed for us his scoring record was patchy to say the least a season later we made 6 million on him
we have 2 fit strikers so it's low risk competition especially when the ones we have are not scoring.
let's judge at the end of the season

Im absolutely delighted at this signing because it isnt Danny Graham. Imagine signing a striker i.e.Graham who has scored 1 goal in 30 appearances for Sunderland. I know his main strength is hold-up play but Graham looks to be no improvement on Chris Brown. :/

Lets just give the lad a chance before writing him off eh? As robin pointed out it's a free transfer till the end of the season so what's the big deal?

It is another indication that none of the numerous strikers in our Under-21 and Academy teams are regarded as good enough... or ready, perhaps.
Is Jackson actually going to play? If not, what is he there for? Cover? Well, surely, from Rhodes, Lawrence, Koita, Delfouneso, Brown, Cham, Forrester, Green, Joel, Preston, Rittenberg, Wall, Mansell, etc (some of them injured, I know), we've GOT "cover"!!
Is experience REALLY such an important factor, considering we are probably only talking about someone who will get the odd twenty minutes on the pitch?

To be honest Aucks it's simply the numbers game (akin to the monkey sat at the piano )
If you are given enough freedom to bring guys in, the more you do the more the chance of dropping upon that one / two players that fit.
For me it's all about the quota of success.
Yes it's unrealistic to think that you / anyone could score a 100% success rate but the longer the odds get the

So our expensive manager is starting to build his own side. At least we get to start judging him on 'his' players instead of hiding behind the notion he can't motivate hardly any of the players he inherited. He was left an average side which he is steadily weakening.

Or ....look at it this way, with a mind of relegation and looking at players he thinks may get Rovers out of Div 1 next season.

So we now have 5 strikers who can't score .......
